What did you get done?

I worked this weekend so I didn't get much done. I did manage to get my trucks washed and some yard work started.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?

I spent the afternoon cleaning under the hood to get it ready for the new engine. It isn't as clean as I would like, but I have to keep reminding myself that it is my daily driver and that it is not a show truck.

Re: What did you get done?

I've spent the better part of the day reading about welding and welders because this weedends episode of "Trucks" inspired me to do my own body work rather than paying someone else to do it for me. I'm trying to learn all I can about them before I slap down a bunch of cash. As of right now I'm leaing toward a Lincoln MIG Pak 10, but I still haven't made up my mind.

I figure that even if I spend as much on tools as I would have getting a pro to do it, then at least I will come out of it with some new skills and the tools to do many more projects. Actually, that's how I've justified buying pretty much all the tools I own.

Re: What did you get done?

Went to Indy to pick up some needed parts for my 86 and one for my 84. Washed most of the transmission fluid off the rear bed and tailgate. Cleaned up the transmission I got in Indy. Next I need to get seals and speedo gears rear tailshaft gasket plus a case of fluid. Pulled the rear tires off to check the brakes on the c20. While waiting I decided to pull the inspection cover off and unbolt the convertor. Now I need a Hei pin /firing pin then install the cap / rewire it. Fidel with the 305 see if its dead or alive.

Anyone know how hard a one-piece rear main seal is to replace by chance?

Sounds like you need a chainsaw rather than a rake...

I hear ya. We had some idiot near here start his grill up and leave for the store Next thing you know hundreds of acres were on fire including a small town with the post office burned as well.

Re: What did you get done?

Took my replacement front drive shaft in to be cut down to size. Scored a GM molded fender antenna.

Also scored two brown, hide leather sofas for my wife. Brand new, clearance at $300 each.

Re: What did you get done?

I was on the road from 10:30am to 8:30pm. My pops and I when to Joshua TX to pick up a scored 79 chevy that a former member just gave me. He said his hot rot days were over and just wanted to get rid if the truck. Unfortunately id did have a hood, working motor and interior stuff. He was in the middle of welding the floor and rot spots and had his fill of messing with it. It’s missing the bumpers, and front clip stuff too. It cost me $85 in gas and $95 to rent a trailer that could haul it back to east Texas. The front end was jacked so we couldn’t pull it.

Re: What did you get done?

I finally finished this damn paint job. It seems like I've been doing prep work for months, Oh yeah it was.6 months to be exact. It's Dupont hot hues Molten Orange thepics don't do the colour any justice but trust me it looks awsome. Itwas my first time painting a true candy on a full size vehicle and tobe honest I was a little worried about how it would turn out but it looks great.

Re: What did you get done?

Great paint jonb Trixter. Want to do mine?

I finally got my truck's front end completed but no alignment shops were available to get finished up. I'm going to try for this week. So far been a great improvement.

Re: What did you get done?

Well the bed, and front clip are off the 84. I stoped and took a long look at it and thought to myselt"What the hell have I begun?". Each day I think about it, something else pops into my head, what about putting in bucket seats and a center console? Or what about bagged on 15's and whitewalls? Chop and section? Show truck vs. daily driver. Its something new and interesting each time I look at it. I have almost nailed down my ideas, but I just can't help but think, what if. It would be awesome to have a daily driven truck that would run 12's. But for something that I will have to run to college and back home with from time to time(9hour trip one way) I need something a bit more realiable. I think I am just going to inspect the front end components, and replace as needed, drop it(thinking 3-5, but tempted with a 4-6), clean the frame, paint it, and then paint the truck and be done. Have a pretty nice truck for under 2-4 large, but that won't happen. The more money I have to spend, the wilder the project gets in my mind. I have begun something that I am no longer in control of, nor can I stop it. Luck 13 has begun, time to sit back, watch the sparks fly and the little kids cry.

Saturday I applied my 73-87ChevyTrucks.com sticker to my newly installed solid back glass. Monday I ran all over town picking up parts for my brothers truck to save him some money from the deductable.
