gas struts on tailgate to lower itself possible?

Anyone ever tried gas struts/shocks on tailgate so it will lower itself? Im in the process of shaving the handle and the big "dip" in the tailgate. Im gonna have a door selenoid on it to pop it open and wire it to my keyless entry remote. Be cool if I could have gas struts on it to lower itself.

On an old episode of Trucks, with Stacy as the host, there was a product he used that lowered and lifted the tailgate. I can't rememeber the company. but it was a pretty sweet piece. Sorry I am not more help.

We sell the EZ down brand of shocks for late model trucks. I am sure they could be adapted to work

you could always put on an actuator on it like this one:

We are dealers for Hoffman products also but I think it would be harder to make an electric one work on a tailgate. I guess any thing could be made to work. It would be kind of hard to hide.
