Re: Sidemarkers....
I think it depends on how they do the inspections in your state. The person doing the inspection would have to be 67-72 savvy and know the sidemarkers were supposed to be there. I don't see why you would have problems.

Re: Sidemarkers....
They dont do inspections really here in Kansas....when I got it tagged all they wanted was the VIN, and proof of insurence. And that was it.

Re: Sidemarkers....
Shave 'em! As long as they're done well, no one will ever know they're there (well, not there). And if the situation ever arises.... "No officer, I didn't know the truck is supposed to have turn signals, I bought it this way!"
You'll still have the ones on the front and rear of the truck!

Re: Sidemarkers....
Sorry but any half a$$ cop will know they should be their! In 1967 they made it manditory that all motor vehicals has markers visible from the side and it was implamented for 67-68 model years. So will you get cought, who knows. Is it obvious that they were their, yes it states it right on your registration by being andything newer that a 67.
That said and done I think they look great shaved but on my trucks I am playing with a few different ideas to blend them in more and make them less obvious, Sorry no clues Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: Sidemarkers....
technicly, by federal law, yes, you need them (and back up lights in texas too), however, your state probably doesn't enforce it.
Like everyone said, nobody cares. But technicly, yes, they are supposed to be there by law. |

Re: Sidemarkers....
longhorn man
from the texas drivers license handbook page 21/22 from the following online version http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/ftp/forms/DLhandbook.pdf reverse lights optional and i've had my truck's reverse lights on a switch.. and they've never been a factor at inspection shops, never even thought of. i have been failed because of a disconnected license plate light. Re: Sidemarkers....
Oh I know... I lived there for 7 years and I knew the ins and outs of the tx inspection... I drove junk and HAD to know what I could get away with... and, my back up lights didn't work on either of my trucks while I was there.
However, technicly, per federal law (the govorning body that regulates the safety features on your cars and trucks) you are required to have them. Just like in most of Tx, they don't do a smog check... that doesn't make it legal to put a 502 in a Citation, it just means they don't care. Even though emissions control devices are federally regulated items, the state doesn't care, so they don't look , unless you are in huston, san antonio, austin, and DFW areas. (Did I leave any out?) |
