Painting exhaust manifolds.

What paint/brand do I need for my exhaust manifolds? Anyone have pictures? Anyone found a powder coat that can work?

Re: Painting exhaust manifolds.

If your talking about stock exhaust the best thing is Eastwoods stainless steel gray. If you have your manifolds off, sand blast the rust and scale away and spray or brush the paint on. Once cured it gives a nice finish that is very durable.

Re: Painting exhaust manifolds.

If you looking for color I'm not real sure, but one thing I have used with great results is BBQ black (Yes the paint they sell for Grills) cleans things up real nice very durable

Re: Painting exhaust manifolds.

I have a powdercoating that cures at 400 degrees and is able to withstand up to 1400 degrees. The only drawback is it's flat black only. It does reduce engine bay heat like ceramic coating (not as well, but very close).

Re: Painting exhaust manifolds.

I used the eastwoods silver/grey color, and mine are still looking "ok" Grey and Black are probably the only bbq style brush on paints. they are rated up to 1500 degrees.

I used eastwood gray mainifold paint also after sandblasing and cleaning per the directions on the can and it still rusted through after 3 coats. I would powder coat or try the BBQ stuff.

Re: Painting exhaust manifolds.

VHT worked pretty good for me. It comes in 14 colors, and in spray cans too. http://72.10.43.141/high_temp.htm
