newbie - just picked up a '71 chevy fleetside

hey guys, first ever post here and this seems like the place to be for classic chevy trucks. ever since selling off my '69 camaro when i was 20 i've always wanted a 70ish truck and was really looking for a '70 (my birthyear) shortbed but when i saw this one in the condition it was in i had to get it. it has no dents and doesn't appear to be hit anywhere, no rust anywhere and all the chrome is there. its slightly lowered on ralley rims with the 350/350 setup, everything seems to be there except the compressor for the A/C. ive been looking for one off and on for around 5 or 6 years and have seen alot of beaters but for considerably less $$.... just wondering if i paid too much for it @ $4500 the seller was asking 5k - glad to be here and i'll be hanging out from now on.

Re: newbie - just picked up a '71 chevy fleetside

the only pics i had of it were the ones from the classified ad and the seller has since deleted the ad. i dont have a digi, but if you can invision it, its lowered about the same as QKENUF4U's truck and is a banana looking yellow. is that a factory color?

Welcome from Back East.Sounds like a righteous deal in Calif. There was a pale yellow that year.Go to www.autocolorlibrary.com and see.The chips aren`t real accurate. Is it like the color you see on Chevy cars from mid-60s/early-70s?Like this Blazer?

Or more like this?

Re: newbie - just picked up a '71 chevy fleetside

I paid 5K for my 71' that was in primer w/ no ac, was extremely straight and zero rust. If it's a straight truck with little or no rust...you done just fine! And with the 71' comes disc brakes up front which would not have been there on a 70'.

Welcome to the board, this is THE place for info. Don't forget to look on the parts pages for awsome deals on parts you didn't even know you wanted. (He probably thinks I'm kidding)

Thumbs up Re: newbie - just picked up a '71 chevy fleetside

Welcome to the board. There is a ton of information here. I just picked up my truck near the San Jose area too. I'm full filling my dream and restoring a 68 chevy. I'm in the Fresno Area but I'm always in San jose visiting my brothers and sisters. Asked the room what your looking for and you'll pretty much find it.
