My 1966 C20
First post. First Chevy truck. Have a 1966 C20 that the ppo had started to restore. I have a few questions.
#1 The rear brakes sheen stuck. Drivers side won't roll at all. Passenger side will only roll backwards. How big of a pita will it be to get it freed up? #2 Not sure what engine I have. 327 or 350? Can I tell by just looking? Also need a radiator. #3 Does anyone reproduce the C20 fender emblems? #4 My steering column has a pointer sticking up behind the wheel. Automatic column? Easiest thing to do is pull the drums and do a good inspection. Replace what needs replaced.
Only way you'll know what you have for an engine is to run the suffix code. No one repops any emblems but the light duty trucks (apache 10 or c10 series) And yep....pointer on top of the column would be an auto column

As for the brakes, have you checked to be sure that the e-brake and or cables aren't stuck?

A few more questions. What is the height difference between the low and high transmission hump?

Ditch the split rims. She could use some tender love and care fer sure. I'm pretty sure you have the original sm420 tranny.

I wish that I still had a set. I can fix flats on those myself at home.

If the reverse is all the way to the left n it's a 4 speed I believe it's an sm420. All the way to the right sm456. Muncie 4speeds

THE high hump is the same height as the hump under the center of the seat, covers all the trans except about inch or 2 of the shift tower

Your truck has the low hump. Trucks that originally came with an auto trans had the low hump.

Your wheelbase looks too short for a C-20.

The engine might be a 350. Newer carb, intake, water pump, clutch fan, etc. You need to look up the casting number to tell for sure, it's on the back of the block behind the driver side cylinder head. Also the frame looks a little short behind the rear wheels, might just be the way the pic was taken though. Joseph

At some point the frame was cut off behind the rear wheels. I can tell...cuts not square.
I also believe the trailing arm cross member on a short bed frame is also under the cab. Also never seen a short bed frame with 8 lug axles. |
