Help With Electrical!
My friend plugged his radar detector into my trucks cigarette lighter and when I tried to start the truck, it clicked and now it acts as if the battery is dead, but I know that it is not I tested it, the battery is fine, I looked at all the fuses, and they were fine, what could it be?

Bad battery connection somewhere or starter selnoid.

How did you test the battery to see if it was good? Check the little wire right next to the battery on the fenderwell as well. It controls alot of things. If you're battery is good, and your battery cables are good then you might have smoked your hot wire going into your fuse box which is probably not good.

I hooked up the battery to my mustang and tried to start it and it fired right up, as for the hot wire to the fusebox, if I did **** that up what all do I need to do to fix that? and if I did is there a way I can hotwire the truck at least to move it?

If nothing worked it had to be a battery connection if it worked when you hooked up a jumper. Do you have molded battery cables or the add on type? Take cables off battery and clean them.

oh no I think you mis understood me, I took the battery out of the truck and put it in my mustang and the mustang fired right up, the truck stilll has not since the incedent this evening. My big question is, is there a fuse between the fuse box, and the battery, or what could blow between them that would cut any electricity from getting to the cab

There is a wire that runs off of the positive terminal to the passenger fender. Check to make sure it is still connected. If it isn't you will not be able to start it. After that, I would check the ignition switch itself.

The wire running between the positive terminal and the 3/8" nut on the fender wall usually has a fusable link inline. This will blow if you had some transient voltage spike. Nothing will work if this line is open. On some models, the fusable link is in the line from the harness to the 3/8 stud, on the other side inside the wire gutter on the radiator support. New fusable link wire is available at parts stores like Checker Auto. Also does your truck have Deluxe gauges or the Standard dash w/ idiot lights? If it's the deluxe set-up, there are two 4-Amp fuzes in inline holders --one on each side -- at the corners of the fender/radiator support. These run current back to the ammeter. If they burn out your charging circuit won't work right and you may get other electrical problems.

68Orange is right on the money, the fuseable link (by the battery) is probably fried, shd be brown in color. I would look at your lighter and wiring also, it might be causing an unfused short which could be a scary thing.

Have you thought about using a test light or volt meter to do some diagnosing? 12 volts goes to the regulator all the time if the fusable link is good. 12 volts also goes to the generator if the fusable link is good. That fusable link aslo feeds the light switch, so if you don't have any headlights that would be a clue to check that fusable link that goes to a junction box.
12 volts also goes to the starter solinoid without going through the fusable link. Good luck with the test equipment.

Well I found an inline fuse that was blown on the drivers side, if this was blow should/could/would anything else have blown?

More than likely not. If itemse were to start blowing they would move from the battery towards the electrical system. That fuse is the first one in the system so replace it and then don't plug in that darn radar detector before you test the rest of your system.

sometimes the fusable link doesnt look like it is blown, but it is. spent many hours till i figured that out. also the fuseable like is just 14 awg wire, so if you have some laying around no need to drive to the store and buy one

Yeah the fuseable wire was blown it didnt look blown as 68w/sbc406 said but I replaced it and now it starts right up!
