4x4 15"x9" steel rims with 2.5" drop spindles and disc brake conversion

Need your help here ladies and gentlemen. I have been doing searches for the past 2 hours, on this site and others trying to find out if my 4x4 15" x 9" steel rims will work with my disc conversion and 2.5" drop spindles. I am going to be painting them this week, so here are some pics of it. any help is appreciated!!!

Yes they will work, they have about 3 inches of reverse to them, I just got a set for the front of my 70 gmc.

If using drop spindles, the wheels are going to scrub the control arm when turning.

Are those custom width wheels or are those factory 8"? Factory wheels will work.

First off, Thanks for the replies! I appreciate it.

These rims I bought at the Portland Swap Meet. They came with the 4x4 center caps where two have holes in them and two have solid. So I bought two extra with no holes to use.

Please excuse my rim knowledge, I measured them and they measure out at exactly 16" from edge of rim to edge of rim, so I assume that with the bead reset down that they are 15" rims and then across they measure out at 9". This is where I get a little fuzzy, are they really 15x8 or are they 15x9?

again, I appreciate all the comments. As clemsonteg mentioned, I read that I may need to do some control arm fixing, which I think I will be ok with. Do we know how much this is?

They'd be 8", if not altered and I don't think they are. You are correct on the diameter measurement, the tire drops down behind the bead so the bead is added to the 15" dimension...about 1/2" each side. The same is true for width. You meassure inside bead to inside bead...or roughly 1" less than overall.

read where some have issues with 8" wheels clearing when drop spindles are used. The tie rd end is very close, but clears...usually about 1/4". Some have had the lower control arm rub at full lock. But for the most part, you can do it with no issues. Even with the rubbing at full lock (which can just be consciously avoided) you can grind some off.

Special-k = Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. this is what I basically have come to the conclusion with, that there could be some miner rub at full lock, but with some massaging it can be reduced or eliminated.

There thing that I am not sure of, I wanted to go with some hub caps of some sort and well if you look at the center portion of the rim there are no 3 tabs to hold any "dog dish" style caps on. The only option I know of is the full size caps or the stock center hole style. Anyone have any ideas for this?

Those are your two typical options. You can go with later center caps, too, like on 88-98s with styled steel wheel. But... there is a custom trick welding VW hubcap clips or you could figure out exactly what you need to weld to the wheel that the caps will pop over. yet pry back off. I have hubcaps hung on mt barn using 3 galvanized common head nails, like 4 or 6 penny. The heads are stuck out from the wall and angled some so the cap pops on, is held flush and snug, and I can pop it back off. How it's done is more crucial on a spinning wheel, but something like that could be made to work
