axleshaft questions

Alright, I have a 6 lug 67 C10. I just picked up an axle for it with 3.08 gears, so I can actually drive it faster than 60 mph (it has 3.73's now). The problem is that the axle that I bought is a 5 lug. Are the axle shafts interchangeable between the two? I believe it's the same axle. the new one is from a 69-70 C10 with a 350 V8. If not, can I get 5 lug hubs from an aftermarket company for the front end?

Unless somebody knows specifically, you'll need to measure the axles. Both should be 30 spline so as long as they're they same length you can swap your 6 lugs back in.

If you want to go 5 lug up front you'll be better off just getting a disc brake kit with new 5 lug spindles or swapping your front susp for one from a factory disc truck.

5 lug axles are longer than the 6 lug axles. If you convert a 6 to 5 it makes the drums stick out 3/4" so it wears wrong on the brake shoes.a 6 in a 5 will cause the drum to rub the backing plate.
Id leave it 5 and do a front disk swap from a 71'up

I doubt that your new axle is 69-70. 69-70 should still have 6 lug. 5 lug axles are probably 3/4" longer than your 6 lug axles.
