Sorry in advance: no information of real substance here... Just venting.

Every time I think to myself this is the last spot to sand... Billy Mays appears and says " But WAIT!, There's MORE!".

I think I can sand on this cab forever and never be done. At some point I'm just gonna have to change the channel and accept the fact it's never gonna be impeccable. Oh how I wish I could just wipe new.

I have no fingerprints and my boogers are black. I'm preaching to the choir, I know you guys feel my pain.

When prepping for paint sand until you think it looks good ,then hand sand for another week . After that go around it for one more week and your arm should look like Popeyes by the time your done ! The only difference between a good paint job and a great paint job is the amount of time invested in prep . The cost is basically the same ,

Don't rush it just wanting to be done

WEAR A MASK !!! I'm still coughing up body filler and imron paint from 30 years ago ! Your lungs will thank you for it years from now !

I sanded my truck for 2 years pretty much every chance I got to do it, I finally said this is never going to be perfect and came to reality that it's time to just make it best as possible and call it a day. I feel your pain.

I literally paid the bodyshop under this formula:

- Sand until it's perfect
- Call me to come look and confirm
- Sand for another $1000 (which is only about 12 hours, but still)

Turned out awesome!

That's proof that even when the customer is paying, there's always a little more to do.

Make sure you have a good mask, and use it - your boogers should be clear. Once you get huffin' and puffin' under there it's easy to accidentally start breathing AROUND the mask instead of through it because it's easier. I had a blue beard from painting with a respirator because I did that...

Not as scary as the time I didn't use a mask because I was "just quickly grinding" all the paint off of the metal door panels, which are small, and I figured I'd be done quick. I checked, and they're all leaded paint, and my nasal tract was full of it.

I absolutely agree with the mask posts! I was only venting sanding frustrations...

No fingerprints and black boogers was poor attempt at a metaphor thinking anyone that has done bodywork could relate to.
