ok, i have been looking at doing this for a year now lol. finaly going to do it tomorrow. found a place that i can truck the truck to. the guy loved my truck, and understands what i mean when i say i want a GOOD job done and to be carefull.

think im going to end up with um.. heck i think they are called dnyoflows,, cant remeber at this moment. hum. they are rather mellow but come alive a bit when you step on it.

2" galv pipe, dules, out behind the wheel. (trying to keep the orginal look). heck i even bought a 2nd heat sheild for the other side.

to be honest im a nervouse. exhaust is always a hit and miss thing. either you love it or you are not happy. they only exhaust i have ever heard that i love the sound is a glasspack, everything else just doesnt sound right.

they guy had a pair of the ones im going to get on his truck, but, its not the same set up. just the muffler is the same. so the sound can be compleatly differant. i just hope i like it. if not. ill have them take em off and put on my 29" glass packs.

i will post a sound file when i get a chance..

good luck with the exhaust, what was teh exhaust on it? if it was stock how did it hold up to the "high miles" it was put under

it is a single exhaust with a muffler. the pipe is really thin and there is a few leaks. still rather quite though.

well its done now, ended up with a single magna-flow. dules from the muffler back. all new pipe, hangers ect. $356 including tax

are those darn mufflers really 150 bucks! wow

now if i could just hear the darn thing. as always, i had to go to work before they were done, and the girlfriend had to pick it up. $@#$#% everydam time this happens. doenst matter how early i take it in. #$@$@%. oh well, i need to practice my paitence.

oh ya, holding true with my bad luck, everytime i buy something big, somthing else breaks. so this time the lawn mower died. a few more rounds of this cycle ill have all new stuff and be in dept up to my eyebalss.

there is always a problem when someone else works on my truck. it doesnt help that im never there to pick the truck up either.

here is the deal. i was quoted 400-420 for new dules, both sides, 3 in pipe. with magnaflow mufflers, exit behind the rear tires.
i thought that was a bit high but these guys seem to be on the ball, im willing to pay a bit more for good work.

after sleeping on it, i decided that i would rather just go with the same set up but use 29 inch glass packs. the price should be under 300 that way, well under. and i know i like the sound.

the muffler guy finaly talked me out of it, and i went with a single pipe back the the magnaflow. then dules out from that. he siad i would save $120 at least. so i said ok lets do that.

i get home, start it up, sounds good, a bit quiet. but not bad at all. that exhuase leak that i knew of and thought it was the doughnut or the ramshorn was still there.. so i thought it must be the rams horn. no biggie

so i look under, im not that happy with how they ran them. its a normal way, but not the double piple over each sideof the axle that i was exspecting.

the muffler was set sideways on the inside of the frame, looks fine, they had done nice welds and had even painted them. i look up tword the front and see old pipe! WTF?

they had kept the old Y pipe. doesnt look like the even put a socket on the studs. that kinda pissed me off, i thought well, guess im going back on monday. we had talked about this, he had said all new pipe. this was not new pipe..over all, not a bad job. but starting to wish i had just done the dules.

i grab the recept. 370 bucks? wtf? i even signed up for their credit card to get 15% off! this what i read.
labor.... 60 ok thats fair
muffler 169.... are you joking?
tail pipe bent 118
exh pipe 39. these must be the tips? bit much, i can buy chrome ones for that!

guess i like their work, dont mind how they have it ran. the only thing i have prbs with is not replacing that y pip and the $170 muffler... i also took a close look and there is a leak right at the rams horn.. think it needs a new doughnut! for 370 bucks i think they could have done that! this guy seems really cool, i hope he makes things right..

It looks like its laid in there pretty nice,I think i would have been a little miffed about the old y pipe left in the system tho. i have had some ex work done that i just didnt like, till i met an old boy that had been in the bizz for about 35 yrs! I worked in his shop for a while, & can do my exhaust work now(still have to 'borrow" his bender once in a while). How does the system sound?

doesn't look to bad to me dave. First off I can understand why they didn't replace that front Y pipe. 1 you can buy them from just any parts store anymore! You have to have them made! I had to have a shop that specializes in it make the front Y pipe for me. there out of FL, the front Y pipe alone cost me $120 if that shop had to make it for you it would probably cost you more then $120. Oh those Magna flow mufflers are pretty darn expencive so that price doesn't seem to outta line...... So ya you probably would have been better off to go with "real" duels! Oh well live and learn! But I think the over all job looks pretty good! I am surprised that they didn't bother to replace those donuts on both rams horn manifolds..... JMO

Does seem a bit on the expensive side - I had complete dual exhaust installled on mine - Custom bent 2.5" from the manifolds to the tips, two 50 series flowmasters, urethane bushings where hangers attach to frame, and Stainless steel 18" tips for about $420...

i just talked with the guy and found out what happend. the orginal quote for dules was 400. using turboflow mufflers, not the magnaflow.

i asked why they didnt change the y pipe and not changing the gaskets, he said that there was nothing wrong with it and its actualy thicker than the new pipe and offered to change them for me now if i wanted.

he asked what needs to be done to make me happy. i told him i would like to get full dules. he thought for a second and said, ok, all i ask is that you pay for the 2nd muffler. he will do all the labor, change out the muffler i have on now for the single in and out type.

so ill end up with full 2" dules with magnaflows for 539. still a bit price , but the magna flows are exsensive. ill make another sound file and post new picts later today..

Ouchiwawa! That's a lot of cash! I just spent $350 for mine this weekend. 2 1/2" duals from the headers back (No x-over) and exit behind the wheels. I was quoted anywhere from 325 to 350 from the local shops, but I went with a guy who was just getting started and wanted the work. He put Allied (I think) mufflers on it, which are quite the muffler. They are 22 ga, stamped and mig welded, not at all like regular mufflers. They sound good and really come alive under hard acceleration. I told him the sound I wanted and he told me what he could get. He originally wanted 110 apiece for the mufflers, but he came down to 83. It took us about 6 hours total to do it, but it was well worth it. He even let me run the bender since I've done it before. Really cool guy and a perfectionist, not to mention a damn good welder. It was a custom fit completely, although we used the original factory hanger points. I was a little leary of spending that much, but after reading your troubles and how much you spent, I don't feel so bad anymore. I also feel a little better about the 30 dollar tip I gave him... I'm also glad I have a rear slider so I can listen to our work when I'm driving!

Thats not really too bad Dave, I had 400- 425 in my system that i installed myself! that did include headers, & stainless tips. The muffs were cheap @ $32 ea(dyno max superturbos) , with 2 1/2 in , with H pipe & 3" out, kicked out ahead of the tires. Yes its loud! Magnaflow is very proud of those mufflers, but they are good. goodluck.....Crazy AL

just got my truck, sounds freaking awsome. i would recomend the manga flows.. he ended up redoing alot of the work. still only charged me the 169 for the new muffler.

when i was leaving the guy who did the work came out and asked if i liked it. he said he spent 4 hours on it, making sure he did a great job. he did!

nice to find a shop that is profesional like this. ill post some picts and a sound file when it stops raining lol!
