Ls 4.8/4l60e question?

I've started to get my 1968 short box step side ready for the Ls 4.8/4l60e swap. I removed the old six cylinder and three speed trani, cross member, shifter linkage. The only question I just thought of will a 4l60e trani fit with a low hump floor? I ordered the early classic engine and trani mount kit to mount the engine and trani. Thanks for any advice.

It really depends on how far back you tuck your engine. If you move it as far back as I did it will hit the low jump. You can get motor mounts that will let clear( I think). Check out the ls swap section, there are some threads on this subject

Re: Ls 4.8/4l60e question?

I put my LS1/700R4 in the rearward 6-cyl position. It's a tight fit, but it does clear.

BTW the 4L60E and 700R4/4L60 are basically the same.
