Blazer top or po kills me
So I got my 72 k5 home. It was missing Sunvisors which are pretty hard to find. Drove back to po's place to ask if he might have them. He did. Saw the mounts and knew they were correct. Then he says they don't fit. I'm thinking about single wall vs double you know newbie stuff. Turns out the top was repainted and the front corners were puddied or fiberglassed so the bracket won't fit. I cannot see the threads were the bolt goes thru the visor mount into the top. Probably have to carve it out but will do that when top comes off next year. Grrrr

Re: Blazer top or po kills me
Do the visors even attach to the removable top? I thought they mount just above the windshield.

Re: Blazer top or po kills me
From what I read I think one bolt helps secure the top. Thru the mount into top. Others chime in please.

Re: Blazer top or po kills me
The visors mount to the windshield frame. There will be one bolt that goes straight up through the mount to hold the top on.

Dozerbill72 is correct one bolt goes right through the sun visor mount and a nut on the bottom .

Re: Blazer top or po kills me
That stud must be missing and or bondoed over. I can see on the visor mount where it would line up.

Re: Blazer top or po kills me
It's actually a captive nut in the top. It should have a little bit of side-to-side movement so you can line the bolt up.

Re: Blazer top or po kills me
Here's an assembled pic. Visors stay on with top off. Just the one bolt that goes through the visor mount to hold the top.

Re: Blazer top or po kills me
The only reason I can think of why someone would fill in that area is if the top was damaged (cracked/ripped) in that area, or the captured nuts were no longer functional (broken out of their cages). I would bet that you will not find the top ready to bolt on with the visor mounts when that filler is removed.

Re: Blazer top or po kills me
Thank you all. I will add a picture soon. Mine have been modified. Stock mounts won't work anymore. Matt
