Red face Dodged a bullet this time!

Well to start with I'm from the south so cold to me is a little frost on the grass in the morning. Since I've been here in Scotsville, Va a little south of Charlottesville. Everything has stayed frozen. I cranked up my truck like every morning and let her run awhile so she is all warmed up. While I was eating my breakfast I heard my truck cut out then slowly die off like it was out of gas. So I go outside the see what the hell. There it was steam pouring out from under the hood. So I break and run pop the hood and I noteced that the upper radiator hose was off of the water neck and steam just shooting out. Well after further investigation my radiator was froze solid. When I got home from work tonight I kept pouring hot water in the radiator to thaw it out once that was done I got the engine to crank up and everything seems to run fine. I think when the hose popped off, it shot water all over the carb which killed the engine cause the K&N had water pouring off of it. THANK GOD. In short check your antifreeze. I got really lucky THIS TIME

I had that happen once. We had a really cold night. Shortly before going to bed, it ocurred to me that I had not checked the antifreeze in my car in a long time. Out of curiosity, I went out and looked in the radiator. It looked like a Slurpee!

I tried to start it up, and the battery pooped out in the cold. I was new to the apartment complex, and did not know anyone. I called my future father-in-law, and got him out of bed. He drove over and jumped it for me. I started it up and let it warm up. Then I threw a blanket on the engine and hoped for the best. It made it to the next day.

Man, you are very lucky freeze plugs didn't start pushing out. I would for sure keep and eye on it for a few days. I hope it is OK.

Yep, you dang sure better have antifreeze up here. I'm not as far north as you, and it was 11 degrees last night. I made a dumbass mistake and forgot to put the freeze cover over the outside faucet yesterday, after having the hose hooked up. Well, this morning, my water was froze.

Good luck and I hope everything is OK.

Cool

Well so far so good when I got home tonight I checked all the freeze plugs that I can actually see. I couldnt see any leaks plus the radiator is still full. Man I feel soooooo lucky.
