Re: Ad 454 s10 swap
We did a 454 in a 52 but it wasn't a S10 frame. We used the original frame that we boxed and installed a Heidts Mustang 2 front suspension. It is extremely tight but can be done. The only reason we went with a big block is because we had it already. If we didn't' have that I think the newer LS motor would have been better. Read through my build thread and I have several pictures etc. If you have any questions let me know. I haven't been getting on here much so it might take me a couple of day to answer.

Re: Ad 454 s10 swap
I would do some research and see if s-10 guys have done the BB swap to see if there are suspension/steering/pan issues. If I remember correctly the S-10 puts v8 engines farther away from the fire will in an AD (good for head clearance) but crowds the radiator.

Re: Ad 454 s10 swap
Ive seen several big block swaps into s10's. The firewall had to be pushed back a little, rad flushed into the coresupport and pusher fans installed instead of pullers. As for the exhaust, 2 of the pipes on the long tube headers were inside the frame while the other 2 wrapped around the outside in the wheel well.
Basically what im saying is if its possible in the tiny engine compartment of a first gen s10... it should be more then possible in a AD/s10 frame swapped truck. The s10 frame widens out just behind where the manifolds dump down when installed in the s10 body... so since the motor sits back a good 6" back further when these frames are used with an AD body a set of long tube headers that tuck inside the frame should clear nicely. The ones for a 73-87 c10 is more the style I'm referring to. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Ad 454 s10 swap
For springs, all depends on your frame ride height. A set of stock v6 springs will sit 1.5-2" lower then stock height would of been with the v6 motor. If you want it higher and firmer then that.. pick up a set of 3rd gen camaro v8 springs. Believe the moog part number off the top of my head is 5668
