i want my engine bay to look like this! any ideas?

yes, we've all seen it. the camaro concept. one of the things i find most striking is how clean the engine bay is. while it is a concept, it still looks very do-able.

any ideas or images anyone would like to share?

our engine bays are simple like that, but there's no way anybody could replicate the looks of that.

Why not? Are you saying no one could replicate that exact look, or that concept?

I can think of a bunch of folks on this board with the skills to do that. May not be molded plastic (if thats what that is), but certainly could be done out of sheet metal. Definatley would take lots of time, planning, and surely a few mulligans!

Re: i want my engine bay to look like this! any ideas?

In all reality, on that Camaro concept the engine looks like it's just an LS2 with a cover on it. So anyone with an LSX or Gen III+ smallblock could slap that cover on (if/when it's available). The billet tower brace... Well we don't have shock towers like that. Hide wiring, relocate the battery, paint satin black, etc. If you have fab skills you could come pretty close.

that's ok, but they say it won't work for LS engines. i'd like to see the smooth valve covers for all that stuff on the LSX valve covers. something to clean up/cover all the wiring and stuff.

I've shaved the coilpack bosses off my LS1 valve covers and I'm having the holes tig'ed in (aluminum). Then I will polish them up. The coilpacks will be located under the dash with the plug wires passing through under the tunnel out of sight (on my 61). I can get away with that because the tunnel is sealed with panel below the torque tube.

Something similar could be done on a 67-72. The packs could be put anywhere you want. Just run longer wires.

Re: i want my engine bay to look like this! any ideas?

fab skills a must, of course. on the camaro, it appears that the power steering pump is mounted high (great idea since you can more easily replace fluid.) has anyone done that before? custom brackets? i also dig the 'maro valve covers. would it be ok to put alt. elsewhere? also, a/c comes into play.

i'm thinking about all this 'cause i'm getting ready to do my own LS4 swap, and i'm trying to get ideas...

Everything is done in reverse though.

I don't see why you couldn't make on out of fiberglass to cover any engine, given enough time, and sandpaper.

Re: i want my engine bay to look like this! any ideas?

Are the engines so ugly now they have to fab plastic covers to hide them? Well, yeah, they are. While I have grown tired of the term old school , I guess you can call me old school since I still like the way they used to be with aluminum and chrome topside. we don't need no stinkin engine covers...
