What made you guys pick chevy trucks

After going threw the "what did you sell to fund your 67/72 truck"
I was wondering, what do you guys love so much about the trucks?
I am not knocking them I love the look of them. (but lets say I am at a crossroads, get a c10 or and F100)

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

Mainly because I love the looks of the 67-72 Chevys. Not knocking the fords but in the long run a C10 will be worth more than a F100 if both are in the same condition and shape. But that's just my opinion.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

Well wat made me buy mine other than falling in love with its looks, my hunting buddy has a '69 chevy 4x4 and its just a tank, going off roading and thru mud and such, it never had any problems off roading and i was always in aww, so i just had to get one. They are geared really good from the factory that u really dont need to do any overkill modifications to have a decent 4x4, so thats why i luv my tank. And im also a chevy guy* i understand urs will be a 2wd? But im sure it will be a good road truck. And unlike ford u can have more sources for parts and aftermarket performance parts too.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

When I was a kid my front door neighbor had one in Ochre color and I always loved the look of it so as I got older and could afford it I bough one, built it to my liking and the rest is history..

^^ Agreed on the rides better. I've had many ford and chevy trucks of all years, and I actually think fords are built better (). But I like the way our c10's ride and look. I'd go for another mid-sixties f100 though.

Owned other Chevy's, particularly 4x4's and IMO Chevy 4x4 trucks of this time period are just plain better than Ford or Dodge.

(Though I have always liked the 1st gen Ford Bronco's).

Why not? sooo many parts interchange, top quality styling that I believe is still sooo modern I grew up with 73-87s and 88-98s so why not? when i got my c/10 people asked me why i didnt get a chevelle, vette, or camaro and ya they may be worth more but i just love old trucks and u can haul a** and haul a payload in the back at the same time too lol

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

I love the style but really GM has so much interchangability that they're easy.I find the Furds stuff has to matcxh each other and I can't remember all the interchanges.

Besides Kewl is just kewl.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

That's what I grew up with. Both grand dads drove Chevy's as did my dad. So consequently, that's where most of my experience and knowledge base is geared toward. Have nothing against F-100s, if someone gave me a new one, I'm sure I would drive it.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

The way I picked my truck was on accident. I was on a mission to buy a dodge dart as a project. I went and looked at a few darts but they were just to much work for me. I started searching for darts again, Then at the bottom of the craigslist page there was a listing for a 69' c10. It was the lines of the truck that caught my attention, it was all to perfect. All it needed was a motor swap and some minor stuff here and there but no body work, brought it home the next day. I was one of those mopar or no car person and was determined to have a mopar, but here I am with a chevy haha.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

That's a really good question. I owned two 67-72 Chevy trucks in the 80's, but didn't realize at that time how much better they're built than Fords of the same era - because I never owned a Ford.

So, I picked up a big, heavy boat in 2000, and bought a beat-up 72 F100 to tow it. The motor was about wore out though, so I got rid of it and bought a 73 F100 in much better shape. But... it still wasn't any good for towing. The drum brakes were no good, the trans was sloppy, and just everything about it was cheap and breaky. So... I bought a 71 Chevy, and we're talking night and day better truck. Everything is made better, it's easier to work on, the trans doesn't slip, and disc brakes to boot. I was really surprised that there was that much of a difference. You'd figure a truck is a truck, but it just ain't so.

That boat is long gone, but I'm keeping the truck until the DMV says I'm too senile to drive. The 67-72 Chevies are just outstanding trucks. Buy one, and you'll never want to get rid of it.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

I've always been into Chevy trucks & the 67-72s always got my attention.
Then I decided I had to get one of my own.
I just think these trucks have a classy look that was actually ahead of its time when they were first built.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

My first car was a LS6 Chevelle, so Chevy Runs Deep...very deep! There is just something about a Chevy, it's just part of American history, maybe a ford or dodge guy could feel the same way, but no way could a toyota ever feel the same!

Born and raised Chevy. My grampa has pic and pics of his old Chevys. 41 pickups. Bel airs, nomads. And the one i remember. A 71 camper special. Light green. Tach a/c fully loaded. Mom and dad met and rolled around in a 61 impala 2door. And a 71caprice afterwards. So bowties are a family tradition

Just liked the looks. My first one was a 71. I had no idea so much was interchangeable between the 67-72 line when I got the 71.

Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks

For me it was because my grandpa bought the truck brand new and he sold it to my parents. so I grew up in the truck and then when I was in shop class I was able to buy it and take it to the shop and rebuild the engine, and do a lot of work to it. So it holds a special place in my heart over any other truck or car.
