Those are check straps to control engine roll. The humped bracket bolts to the frame rail and the cable fastens to it and bolts to the engine.

I just pulled a set off of my 69 parts truck...350/th400 1/2ton lwb. I think alot of people probably pulled them off years ago when the motor was rebuilt. Plus if you use the new interlocking style motor mounts, you don't need them anyway.

late 60's early 70's. That was a short lived recall until they redesigned the motor mount to the safety mount and then that was the replacement part. If you had a linkage type gas pedal you got that strap setup. Cable type pedals did'nt have the WOT problem.
