Two Questions: Temp Sender and Tach

I've been looking for a source for a temperature sending unit for my '64. When I swapped out the engine, I didn't grab the old sender unit. The LAPS's don't seem to even know what I'm talking about (surprise!). Does anyone know where I can snag one? This is the small single wire type for the stock gauge clusters.

Now, and this may have been asked, but... won't THIS fit in the stock dash tach space? Mooneyes half-sweep tach with a 3-3/4" face.

Re: Two Questions: Temp Sender and Tach

The problem with the Moon tach is the face bezel is crudely crimped over the mounting cup. The face is not truly a separate piece like the old Sun tachs. Removing the face bezel by twisting the crimp open from the cup might deform or damage it so badly as to be cosmetically unusable. If you want to remove and use the mechanism mounted from behind the dash panel, that may work.

Classic Parts sells both types of sending units. The exact link doesn't work, so just enter "temp sender" and it will show both parts:

Perhaps if you show this to your local parts person they will be able to understand what you're looking for.
