Rear gear question

When I got my 69 panel I was told it had a 4/10 posi rear. 6 cyl 3 sp truck. I cracked it open yesterday and discovered it was 3/7's. I was a little disappointed.

I have a 67 C10 that has a 283 and a 3sp with factory OD. It has the CST option with dual side tanks. Does anyone know what the probable rear gears in this one might be?

Re: Rear gear question

factory overdrives came with the 4.10's.
I'm just curiouse... why in the world do you want a screamin gear like that? Weren't you just looking for a 3.07 rear?

Well as you know plans change. My plans probably change more than most since Im just sitting here on my hands waiting for my panel to come back from body and paint (waiting two years now, but thats a whole different story).

I wanted that rear gear (4 10) because my panel was going to have the Caddy 500, turbo 400 and Gear Vendors OD. But now when the panel is done Ill probably just sell it, its become a huge thorn in my side. Unless of course its super cool...lol, see how quickly I change =)

I have a spare 350/350 combo I can put in it, and with the gas prices the way they are I was thinking a 3 07 rear gear would be more marketable.

I promised the 4.10 set up to Brad. He was going to put it in his new ride with an OD trans he has. I feel like I let him down, and was thinking maybe that 67 would have the correct gear set up he was looking for.

When my garage is finally finished I wont have to rely on other people so much to get work done. While it still may take a couple of years to get something finished, at least Ill be able to say I did it all myself.

Thanks for your help as always Andy, its much appreciated.

Re: Rear gear question

Mark, I think I still want that 3.73 if it's a posi rearend- that'll work nicely in the new truck. Just let me know if you still would want to sell it, especially if you buy a 3.08 from Mark.
