`72 Loaner Truck

My`92 is in the shop and they give me this 20 year older thing to drive:

Not only is it old and hard to get in,it`s a darn stick shift:

Tim,

Isn't this one of your trucks already? Maybe I'm confused, but I could swear that I've seen that one before...possibly in your yard.

Re: `72 Loaner Truck

^^

Yeah Shannon,it "was" mine, but I sold it to a friend. It was hard to do.But,he`s taking real good care of it.His dad has a nice shop with a lift and my`92 transmission (NV4500) and transfer case need to come out to fix the clutch arm.It wore out with only 265,000 on it....P.O.S! He lives about an hour away,so I drove the old girl home.

I think I should come switch you loaners. Nice truck for sure. I'm digging the 4 speed tilt too! I also just noticed the 8 400 badges......... SBC or BBC since they never had BB's in them from the factory................?

Re: `72 Loaner Truck

That's got to be weird driving your truck... that isn't yours anymore.

Have them clean up & look over the bellhousing for cracks while it is out- I've seen far more with cracks than without on the '86 & up hydraulic setup.

I know it`s all cracked up at the back of where the slave cylinder plunger pushes the clutch arm. And,it is weird driving the`72.It`s exciting and I feel lucky, though.

Re: `72 Loaner Truck

Yes it definitely is. But then again, it is hard to justify spending $28k on up for a pick up. It really needs to be able to pay for its self over about 4-5 years without beeing worn out to make it work. And that doesn't happen very often.

Re: `72 Loaner Truck

Tell 'em to keep the 92. That way you don't have to live with a plastic radiator, intake manifold and so much smog junk you can't see the motor.

Re: `72 Loaner Truck

^^ Problem is,it`s a diesel with no smog and a big old 4-core brass & copper radiator.I can`t knock a truck I started off ordering in`92 and am still working out of it today.I`d rather only have the`72 and earlier stuff, though.

Now we`re having a blizzard. It`s all I have to drive.My`72 GMC needs tires too bad.It doesn`t look like much will get done on the`92 this weekend.

Man,what a difference a few days can make. Here`s a picture from this morning:

Tim is it just a coincidence that you just happen to have your old 4wd in time for this DUMPING of the white stuff or what? You've been paying attention to the weather channel I'd say. Good timing.
