Super nice truck CB. I've driven one like it and let me tell you it's got plenty of pulling power in stock configuration. That Allison tranny is way smooth too.

My 2001 actually seems to shift like crap when I'm not in the gas, but it shifts nice and crisp when I am. Not that matter to me though since I'm almost always in the gas. Lol

Has the 5 speed Allison been rebuilt??......If it has......Have the TCM reflashed with the latest software.

Or Reset the adaptive memory with a scan tool & hope for the best.

Super nice truck as you probably know the 06 07s are the best so far.

Yeah, The bad thing is it feels faster than the twin turbo over-fueled Cummins I used to have.

Re: My 06 2500HD

I drove my nephew's 2011 2500 cc dmax/allison. I matted it from a rolling start and I swear it was fishtailin in second gear. I was impressed with the power and like I said the Allison tranny was smooth. That's some combo. His is still all stock. It won't be for long as he plays with everything he buys.

397hp & 765ft lbs isnt enough? I would keep it stock.

Re: My 06 2500HD

May I ask where those pictures were taken? I'm from Mesquite, and that building looks really familiar.

Oh, and no, my tranny has never been rebuilt, and at 260k miles and 10 years of life that's probably why the shifts are groggy.

"old"FM1187 & I-35W is where the pics were taken.

A TCM reflash with the latest software version isnt a bad idea.

Has the transmission had regular maintenance?

DO NOT use Dexron VI ATF in your 5 speed Allison, The BEST fluid for a Allison is called TranSnyd. it can run from $40-$60 a gallon.
http://dmaxstore.com/index.php?main_...roducts_id=232.

Or run Dexron III......But change it (2 gallons & filter) every 30-50K miles
