i got a free quote for my old brick. and it would be 447.37 a year! from hagerty classic auto im 18 and a new driver. is this to good to be true? Because right now i pay 127 a month with progressive and i just got liability

Classic/Antique insurance comes with a lot of limitations in the vehicle's use - no regular daily use driving etc. etc. Better talk to the agent and find out all the limitations

Make sure you are going to receive the coverage and allowances you need.

They won't insure you if you don't have another vehicle registered and insured as your daily driver. There will be limits on usage and mileage, how it is garaged, etc.

Yes it is cheap per year but you have to deal with all the restrictions. I had it on my last '69 Camaro and had it insured for $25,000. It was costing me about $400 per year.

Friend of mine has classic car insurance and you have the person driving the car has to be at least 25 years old in order to be covered by the plan

Haggerty told me they would not insure my truck until I painted the inside of the bed. Until that is done they consider it just an old junk hauler. Grundy told me they would not insure trucks for less than 10K agreed value. Grundy did however insure my 1999 TransAm for an agreed value of 7K.

I was pretty sure that with Haggerty you have to be 25 as they did not want anybody under that age driving my truck.

Last time I checked into a haggerty policy, you needed to be at least 25, own at least one other vehicle as a DD, and it has to be stored in a locked garage.

You won't qualify for the specialty policies for the reasons listed above. It really is restrictive and isn't for daily drivers. I can't believe how much you're paying just for liability with Progressive though, that is really high.

I use Grundys for my 72 & also used it for my 94.

With Grundys you (and any drivers) have to be 25.
There was no mileage restriction but you had to be driving it for a "car show related" event.
And sign something saying it was not your daily driver (and I also think saying it wasnt your backup driver).

I recently did an online quote thru Hagerty and it was way more than I pay with Grundys.

Go with Heacock Insurance....I pay 175.00 a year for 30,000 value on my truck..Only restriction is 3,000 miles a year which for me is plenty....

I had my 72 covered with Hagerty when I was 22. I never had a claim, so I didn't put it to a test.

I have my 40 ford insured through Grundy. $180/yr and it covers $27K if anything happens to the car. I was told unlimited mileage as long as it is being driven to auto related events. No daily driving like mentioned. The driver must be 25 and it must be stored in a building. I even had to send them a pic of the building it is stored in.

I would think that 27K is underinsured for a 40 Ford sedan.

I caught that episode of My Classic Car also, and it has peaked my interest. Does Hagerty or Grundy's insure in Canada? Anyone in BC have a better setup? Here in BC, your PLPD has to be through ICBC. As for additional insurance, I know you have options. I looked at Collector Plates for my 69, but because it is lowered, changed steering wheel, stereo and some chrome, a couple of minor mods, it disqualifies me. What a crock!
