RE: Tachometer
Hello Group, I have a 1970 Chevy C-10 and the tachometer does not work. It looks like it is missing the needle. I purchased a new one from Brothers and when we pulled the bezel off, it appears that the entire back is sealed. Is it necessary to break the seal to install the new tach?? Thanks for any advice or suggestions...

Re: Tachometer
I'm not sure if it is the original, but it appears to be original. I ordered an original replacement which appears to fit the bezel.

Re: Tachometer
Sorry, the truck is a couple of hundred miles away getting an upgraded tranny. The consensus seems to be that the back is removable so that is what we will do. I almost retuned the tachometer but will hold onto it...

Re: Tachometer
The original gauges don't look like any of the aftermarket gauges. You can take a quick look at a stock cluster. If your gauges don't look like them, then you have some type of aftermarket cluster. If your gauges resemble original style gauges, then they will disassemble easily.
They're easily identifiable because the numbers and letters are printed on the clear plastic lens, NOT on the gauge itself as you can tell with the new tach you purchased. |
