Still waiting on insurance company's call!!!

It's going on two weeks now since my 1969 caught fire. The insurance company wants receipts of the work done to the truck (most where in the dash!@#$%^%

I am soo ready to rebuild that it's driving me crazy.

Re: Still waiting on insurance company's call!!!

That's brutal. Your C10 was ridiculous! I'd just see if you can call the places you bought the stuff from and explain - they SHOULD send you another one. I had to do that when my STi was broken into. That or just go online and put all the stuff in your shopping cart and print it out before you would pay. My insurance company gave me NO problems.

WoW!

I just love your before pics of your interior.

Top notch craftsmanship there.

Yeah like us know how things work out.

And what caused the fire in the first place.

Good Luck.

Re: Still waiting on insurance company's call!!!

I had a small electrical fire in my '69, before I retired. I contacted my insurance agent and a claims adjuster came to my house (State Farm). He admitted he had no idea what it would take to fix it, so I provided him with the info I already had for the new harnesses/parts. He added in some prep and paint time/materials, then proceeded to approve the claim. I had my money the next day.

My labor and the parts from LMC and it was back on the road.

My truck project includes all new harnesses. There's no way that I'm gonna trust 42-year old wiring in a truck that has thousands of my hard-earned dollars.

But, the P.O. makes a good point in that insurance companies want to see receipts for work done. If they won't take an estimate from a reputable repair facility, it's probably all you can take to the bank.

Re: Still waiting on insurance company's call!!!

you might have better luck by going after whoever did the wiring and sue him/ or maybe he'll stepup and back his work

Re: Still waiting on insurance company's call!!!

That sucks, bro. On each of my trucks I start a file on the day I buy the truck, and any time I buy something online I print out the Paypal statement, or if it's local I stick the receipt in there and keep it. When I sell the vehicle I hand them the file for their records. State Farm tried to fight me on a claim, because I did the drivetrain and suspension first and from the outside it didn't look like what my stated value was. I just handed him the file and they cut the check the next day.

I like the stance on your truck, what are the specs?
