New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
FINALLY, got some new rear tires. I have 31x10.5x15's up front, and had some old 33's in the back. One was really dry rotted so it was time to get new ones. They're 33x12.5x16.5 BFG All-Terrain T/A K/O's on stock 16.5"x9.75" 8 lug rims. The only bad thing is, the two rims I have are different. One is a GM wheel and this one is a custom wheel. This wheel doesn't have any "spoke" holes like the originals do. Anyway the tires, mounted, balanced, etc. cost about $450, I'm gonna take good care of these!I'll take a pic of the drivers side tomorrow. Anybody else get new tires recently, or anybody run these tires on your truck? How's the treadwear, etc.? I just thought I'd show these off.

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the look from there, but how about a full side shot so we can see the full stance.

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll try to get a pic tomorrow, it's got a pretty good rake to it. When I have the truck parked on flat concrete and you look at the back of the truck, you'd swear it was a 4x4, then you look at the front and you're like what the ???, a 2wd?!? It looks kinda stupid since the front wheels are 15x8" white spokes and the rear wheels are stock. Once those wear out 235/85's on 16x6" rims are going up there.

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
After all its a truck, I'm sure if you put a load in it, it would level out just right. Personally I think they look great.

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
450 bucks for 2 tires, plus mounting etc.??? Thats seems quite steep to me. I've heard that BFG all-terrains kick up and spit out a lot of stuff. I think it was Petersons 4-wheel magazine said they are the worst sand and rock throwing tire ever. But anyways. I'm sure they won't bother anything.
You can get 33x12.5x16.5 tires at Sams Club for 135 bucks a piece. They're Dunlop Mud Rovers, and are more aggressive then All-terrains. Plus they have a D load rating. Just thought you'd like to know. |

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
Robert,
Those look good. Did you get them siped? I spent $600 w/ M+B. I'm running the 31x10.50 BFG T/A KO's on 8.25x16.5 rims with hubcap clips. I sent the white lettering to the back. They have a really nice highway ride. They can hold onto a rock or two and let them go once you get on the pavement...sounds like a gunshot every once-in-awhile. I don't mind, it just tells me they are grabbing well. It sits higher in the front since I put the '77 disc-brake crossmember in it. Almost level without a load. The '77 truck had a 454 and the BB springs in it have a little more life than the original 396 springs in my old drum front end. I should get a newer pic with the paint rubbed out and the tires cleaned but this gives you the idea.

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
Jake, $450 included mounting and balancing. Yeah it's way too much $$$ but oh well. These tires used to be $159, they went up to $189 now. These also have the D load rating. Nobody else in town has tires for 16.5" rims so I really didn't have an option.
catseye, thanks for the complement. Those look good on your truck. No, I didn't get 'em siped. They ride great and I think these will last a long time. The only reason why I didn't get the mud terrains was obvious, they were 200 something bucks a piece! I've already driven down some gravel and dirt roads, only a couple rocks got thrown but there ain't any stuck in the tread. Right now, it's sitting low in the front because the 31-10.50's I bought only measure about 28.5" tall, don't know why they call 'em 31's. Guess it's just the cheap tire manufacturer. The 235/85/16's I had on the truck before make the front sit a lot higher, I'll put those on when I take the pics tomorrow, didn't get time today.

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
Here ya go. I don't know what the hell is wrong with the camera, it looks like the wheels are bent out in the last pic.

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah I guess 2 tires would be 450 bucks. 189x2=$378, then add on tax, which would make it close to or 400 even, then add the mounting.
It's got a nice stance. I like the custom bodywork on the doors and rockers, too. J/K |

Re: New tires!!!!!!!!!!!
That rust repair(or lack of it) on the rockers and doors was done long before I got the truck and that's the way it was when I got it in 2003, except that one big chunk of bondo on the lower corner of the door fell of once I started driving it. And the rear part of the pass. side fender is dented in because I ran over something out in the field and it smashed it in. Those dents and rust are nothing, I'll have to take a pic of the tailgate next.
