Edelbrock Accu-Drive Gear Drive?????????
anybody got one in their engine???? Edelbrock claims they aren't as loud as other gear drives. what ya all think???

My scout has a gear drive, I've never heard it make *any* noise before. Besides, what's wrong with the noise if you get the added strength?

Hello,
I have a Pete Jackson Gear drive in my 67. But I have the one machined for noise. It is fun to see necks snap to look as you drive by in hopes that they will see a big blower sticking out of the hood. Pete Jackson also has one machined for less noise. I don't think I would want the geardrive sound but if quieter setups were available I would try one out.

I worked on a friends chevelle that had the pete jackson model and he had me take it out. On a street driven vehicle I don't see any advantage over a quality double roller timing chain, unless you wanted the noise. [I mean sound]They claim much better timing accuracy, but unless you spend some serious time on the dyno, you will never know where what timing your cam makes the most horse power at anyways. I have yet to see any magizines test these things and show that they are any advantage on the street.

I think the only reason they "claim" more accurate timing is because there is no chain to stretch. Lumpy

i have an edelbrock gear drive and it is quieter than the others plus i didnt even have to do any mods to my 350 to use it.timing is more accurate than with chain

I almost went with a gear drive...but i didnt...too noisy,(annoying) and there is no room for dampining the shock to the drive train..a chain gives a little...something about harmonics being transfered to the cam and stuff...If you plan on doing alot of cam timing, go with a cloyes adjustable double roller...infinite adjustability

I have a Pete Jackson gear drive in my 388 stroker. I went with one because the noise sounds cool and no matter what brand of chain I bought, they all stretched over time. A gear drive will never stretch.
