A few general questions

I am looking at picking up a 71 C-10 to part and was wondering a few things before I did so. Any help would be appreciated.

1) How difficult is it to do a swap from drum to disc brakes? Is the entire front axle needed? Do all brake lines need to be redone? etc

2) What is a good price for a complete bed/tailgate/fenders in fair condition and how hard is it to install?

Im sure that I will have more questions as they come up about this. Thanks alot.

Chops, welcome to the board.I don't believe you to replace your brake lines unless you think that they are suspect. The degree of difficulty on swapping your drum to dics is a matter of how mechanically incline you are. There is a vast amount of knowledge and resources here, and a willingness to help. You have probably already figured that out.I would say a good price on anything is very hard to say.Watch how things happen and you will catch on fast. The people here a very reasonable and have help me probably more than they will ever know.I have gotten a few great deals here also.Scott

A search will turn up lots of information on disc conversion.

The bed thing is regional. Here in Texas, I literally can't give away a long bed, but a real nice shortbed can bring 2k dollars. Other areas of the country, longbeds even bring big bucks. Apparantly, some areas of the USA get rust on their trucks, so good sheetmetal is at a premium.

A bed is just 8 bolts and a wiring plug to install.
