Not defending the guy but over here on this side of the pond, "left" and "right" usually mean while sitting in the drivers seat not while looking at he front of the vehicle.

Whooops!...I blame driving a left hand drive vehicle on the left side of the road and overtaking on the right, and looking at a bent crapy old grill for $325 which is damaged on the left side but it's on the right if your in the vehicle.....nothing makes sense anymore.
