Fleet Side to Step side

I am thinking of buying a 1971-72 chevy but most of the one available are fleet side. I want a step side.
If I can't find a used one, can you buy a complete reproduction step side box?
Does it bolt into the same place as a fleet side?

Re: Fleet Side to Step side

Welcome to the board! Hope you find one of these trucks that suites you. I believe everythings available to build a SWB stepside bed now. Doubt it for LWB stepside. SWB fleetside sell for more $, so it would be kind of backward from most people thinking to convert one to a step, though.

There are more step beds (bed only) for sale on ebay and on this board than you'll see swb fleet bed. So you could always buy just the bed and put it one the truck you find.

Re: Fleet Side to Step side

You can buy new LWB and SWB bed sides and build a new bed.
