Stepside bumper ideas
I'm looking to change the rear bumper on the stepside, thinking of maybe a factory sport bumper with a reciever underneath so it will still be able to tow.
I've heard that an S-10 step bumper will work also, anybody have pics of what your using for a rear bumper.

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
You can also do the hideaway hitch behind a fold down liscence plate.

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
Never thought of the hidden hitch, that would probably look much better.
Solver, is that a fleetside bumper?

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
There's a pic floating around of a step with a mid eighties El Camino rear bumper. Perfect width and allows removal of stock pedestal lighting. Very trick.

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
That`s a Stepside sport bumper. It`s a bit narrower than the Fleetside. They stick waaay out there. For a more original vintage look (other than the sport bumper) there are Stepside step bumpers, but hard to find a good one.A Fleetside one could be narrowed, alot of work. Then chrome it,alot of money.Sure would be cool on a 4wd though.

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
I used a step sport bumper and made a hidden hitch that worked out great. Was not that hard to do. I even mounted a spare under it.

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
Like the tubs, the bumper...it's different, but not my cup of tea. The stock sport bumper is my favorite so far.

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
The S10 step bumper is a after market deal. Its for a 90's S10. I'm sure they have been the same for many years.

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
I like the 55-66 stepside bumpers. They'ed look good on a 67-72 stepside. I'd probably invert it so the cutout is on the bottom.

Re: Stepside bumper ideas
this truck looks good, i don't know if it's just a rollpan though since it's a custom. i like the lights molded into the fender. it looks like the bed has been cut for the license plate
