boss 338 wheels 5x4.74 with adapters fitting?
I came across boss 338 20" wheels with new tires $700, but they are 5x4.75 bolt pattern but they were on a 95 Chevy with 5x5 1" adapters. I've read about a bunch of fitting issues with these wheels. I would think with the adapters they should be fine since most had to run some kind of spacers anyways to get them to fit even if they r the right bolt pattern. I have no drop on my 68 long bed c10 with 5 lug conversion. Never ran adapters those so idk do they hold the wheel on good or am I going to be tightening lug nuts every trip i take? will they even fit? am i going to have a wheel fall off ? is having the wheels stick out 1" going to make it look like a gangster nacho rig. bc I don't want that it looks like there's plenty of room in the wheel wells and u wouldn't notice them sticking out 1"?
Any help would be appreciative. Last edited by jacobfour; 02-23-2014 at 11:39 AM. |

Re: boss 338 wheels 5x4.74 with adapters fitting?
I searched "wheel adapters forum" on google. Seems to be quiet a few people running adapters without a problem. I'm thinking if one starts to loosen itself, you would feel the vibration while driving.
Also, test fit the front wheels before you buy. I'm not positive but I think it's the Boss or Coys that some people were having trouble with the wheel fitting onto the front rotors. Some were having to turn a little off the center in a lathe. I'll see if I can find that thread for you.

With the boss wheel on the front hub the issue is the hub is to fat to let you put the center cap of the wheel on. You have to grind the rotor hub end down at a angle to make room. About a 20 minute job for both wheels.
With a 1" spacer you shouldn't have this problem at all but check them good and make sure they don't hit anything when you turn the wheels to lock.
