Re: Mufflers?

Lots of good quality mufflers out there, I have Flowmasters, but I've seen alot of Cherry Bomb commercials lately & one of my favorite car/truck builder/fabricater "Stacy David" (He built the truck Copperhead) just did a whole walk through of the Cherry Bomb plant & they did some flow tests & they did very good in the test's & sounded good too! I'm sure you will get lot's of opinions on this subject, but anything good enough for Stacy David is good enough for me.

Re: Mufflers?

Turbo mufflers are always a cheap and good choice. Not too loud but not too quite, with a touch of rumble and almost no interior resonance. Sounds very old school, like a cop car from a 60's or 70's chase scene.

Smaller turbo mufflers will be louder. I got two small ones on my truck and its got a pretty nice sound. This is with long tube headers and no cats. You can get them for $20-$30 each.

Re: Mufflers?

I have dual Cherry Bombs on my '71 C-10 with a 350 and it sounds pretty good.

My son has dual Flowmasters on his '70 C-10 with a 454 and likes the sound. They sound louder to me than the Cherry Bombs I have.

Re: Mufflers?

my truck had some old muffler shop glass packs on my truck when i bought it and it was realy quiet for glass packs and i wanted a loud truck so i cut some 2x1 holes in the pipes because the pipes are bent to ****,so i was like i need a new system anyways, it made my truck louder but now my parents are pissed off that i did this so i need to get a new exhaust system

Re: Mufflers?

FLowmaster super 40's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quieter than the standard 40, but still sound like a pro-stock car at 2,500 and above rpms

Then again, they might still be too loud for someone that's trying to listen to their oldies station while crusing to the lake. I refuse to have a stereo in my truck.....the motor is my music.

I'm with you on that one. Stereo's are a waste of time plus I like to get away from things when I'm driving my truck. Sound of the engine is the tune that I like the best. IMHO.

Not always.

Glasspacks are cheap and sound old school, but I'd go with Flowmasters or something like that for a long lasting, good sound.

Re: Mufflers?

Flows are the only way to go. The sound good, look good and are tough, turbos will explode and open up like a pop can. They are like $50-60 a piece but they'll outlast the truck!!
