What did you get for Father's Day for your rig?

I got The BLZNCST interior painted! took all day to mask and tape then paint and clear coat it but it was well worth it. My son laid it on smooth! Best fathers day present ever. now I can start putting it all together.

Thanks Eric, I do like this combo. I have had a few in the recent past with it. The CST rear panels are Saddle also with the western scroll.

Awesome, I'm always glad to see progress on our trucks! I hope to get the interior painted on my truck very soon.

Yeah Carl, I delayed putting in my interior for 2 years because I didn't want the cost to paint the interior but I knew I had to. The hardest part is just getting it started, once you start it goes pretty good. but 2 years is too long to put something off.

HA! 2 years??... mere childs play. I'll see your 2 and raise you to 4!

All kidding aside, the work looks great! I'd have to say your son wins coolest the Fathers Day gift on the planet award.

No, somehow I missed that one. Just did a search and found your thread from last Tuesday with a pic. Looks like a good project, what are your plans for it (besides floor & rocker rust repair)?

Glad you got some use out of that grill! BTW my truck is still in the shop! I talked with the guy a few weeks ago, now he's saying maybe a couple months. Not holding my breath!

Re: What did you get for Father's Day for your rig?

My wife got me these original 6" wide 16" rims, had them blasted and painted too! She said the gift includes tires, so now I have to decide on a good tire size for my 1/2t 2wd.

CG, I did a price hike hoping no one is ready to pull the trigger. If I secure another home in Idaho for retirement I may let this one go. I know I will never find a rust free k5 again, ever! amazing classics come and go with me but sellers remorse is a terrible thing, I know this for sure! a1

Re: What did you get for Father's Day for your rig?

First, I want to say it looks like the paint job turned out fantastic. I also can appreciate the amount of work you did masking off everything, especially the under dash stuff (I just did the same about two months ago).

But, I have one bit of concern. It seems your son used a dust mask instead of a respirator while painting. I am not usually one of those safety crazies (wanted to use a less than politically correct term instead of crazies...). Anyway, catalyzed paint is very bad for your lungs and health. Please consider buying your son a Isocyanate approved respirator and wearing it anytime he paints (you want him to have many happy Fathers Day's as well). Harbor Freight sells a good brand and Isocyanate approved respirator. The damaging affects of isocyanates are accumulative.

Almost forgot: For father's day weekend, my new saddle/houndstooth seat cover arrived...so time to rebuild/repair the seat.

Here is a photo just after I finished painting the cab. You can see the interior was done as well. This is not a full restoration, but merely a refresh. The cab interior needed holes patched and returned to the proper Ochre color.

David, Yes we knew better and he said after we finished that he was never doing paint spraying without the correct protection again. He was the head painter at a body shop for over 10 years and got into a different trade. He told me he probably added 10 years to his life by switching jobs. Thanks for the heads up reminder. Your truck paint job looks great!
