Coil U-Bolts -- will these work?

Link to U-Bolt kit

These are "Round Bend 3/4 x 3.5 x 10.5 Grade 8 U-bolt Kit" and are $35 shipped to me. I read that the stock are 3-3/8", does the extra 1/8" allow any play that I should worry about?

I found other U-Bolts significantly cheaper, but they are 9/16" and 5/8" instead of 3/4". The are 3.5" diameter also and probably thinner because they are made for leaf springs. I'm assuming I can't run those... but can I?

I measured my stock bolts and they are actually 3.5" diameter, so these look like the right parts. Still unsure about the smaller gauge bolts but I guess these will work in any case.

Why not order the correct parts?

I don't have a local spring shop -- or I have no idea how to find one. I searched google maps and came up empty handed. Maybe I need to scrounge up a phone book but since I have no landline I never got a phone book after moving to this area 5 years ago.

I think these are correct -- at least the 3/4" bolts. I'm looking for the extra 2" in case I want to do lowering blocks.

Please, tell me how you found them/what your search terms were. I'm thinking maybe I'm not searching for the right thing. If I type in "spring shop" near Raleigh I just get a bunch of general shops like Firestone...

paste this into google.

leaf and coil springs Raleigh NC

Learned helplessness is a mental state in which an organism forced to endure aversive stimuli, or stimuli that are painful or otherwise unpleasant, becomes unable or unwilling to avoid subsequent encounters with those stimuli, even if they are escapable, presumably because it has learned that it cannot control the situation. Guess all of this truck stuff is too much for him.

Result 1 is in Kansas
Result 2 is yellowpages, already checked there
Result 3 is a tire shop in Sanford, NC
Result 4 is *this thread*!!!
Result 5 is a job finding website...

I don't see that you've quite made your point. Find me one single place and tell me how you found it, and I'll admit that I didn't look hard enough.

Thanks much, never heard of Fleetpride. Looks like there are quite a few specialty shops down there as well.

Fleetpride did mine too. they are national big truck repair (semi) company. I just stopped in on my way home from work with an old one and asked for two just like it. Mine were $36 out the door. I have heard of others getting them for less but I'm not complaining.

Re: Coil U-Bolts -- will these work?

I ended up ordering the bolts I originally mentioned to save myself the trip -- they look nice, grade 8 and longer nuts than stock.

Good to know if you're just replacing with stock!
