Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Here is the latest version of the power brake booster adapter bracket that I've been making since 1993. This bracket is fabricated from laser cut 10ga mild steel and fits 1967-'72 Chevy and GMC Pickups, Suburbans and panels and is 100% bolt on using holes already in your firewall. The booster side of the bracket has a 3 3/8" x 3 1/2" hole pattern. Boosters with this pattern are commonly found on S10's and full size pickups, Suburbans, Blazers and Tahoes from 1988 to at least 1998. Of course you will have to join the booster pushrod to your stock MC pushrod that attaches to your brake pedal. This can be done by either threading both ends and using a coupling nut, or by just welding them together once you determine the correct length.

I have had the original version ('63-'66) of this bracket on my '66 Suburban and have driven over 120,000 miles with no issues. I have also installed these on a couple of local pickups with good results as well. If you are wanting to add hydroboost to your pickup, Suburban or Panel I also offer a mounting plate for the hydroboost HERE

The price on the bare steel brackets is $59.50 plus a flat $16.25 shipping in the US. If you are located elsewhere contact me for shipping charges. You can also get this bracket in a satin black powder coat for an additional $9.00. Mounting hardware is included. This pricing is not current and up to date.To place an order post in this thread, send me a PM or send an email to captainfab454@hotmail.com, and I will give you the ordering and payment instructions and current lead time.

THE '71-'72 FACTORY BRAKE BOOSTERS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY OF MY BOOSTER BRACKETS

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Sorry but I do not have a definitive answer that you are looking for. Over the past 15 years a few people have had an interference issue with the column shift on the '67-'72's, but no one has ever let me know just what size booster will work. I am not in the business of building trucks for people so I have no way of finding that answer on my own. My specialty is the '60-'66 trucks. I do own a '68 but it is a 4 speed truck. I know what works on a '60-'66 with the factory auto column shift. I would have thought that a 9" booster would have cleared. A 10" will on a '60-'66.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Yep, no problem. You just need a power brake master for a drum/drum system. The one I use on my Suburban is a power brake master for a '67-'70 truck.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

I have not tried that. On the manual master cylinders, the bore in the backside of the piston is deeper than on a power master cylinder. So I suppose if you wanted to make a new pushrod to go between the booster and the master, it could be done. But I wouldn't mess with it. A rebuilt power master isn't that much $$

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

if I use your bracket on a '72 will a booster out of a '92 bolt right in or will I need to modify the rod that connects to the pedal. Do I just pm you to buy a bracket?

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Since a '92 full sized truck booster falls within the '88-'98 range, yes it will bolt up. The pushrod will need to be lengthened to reach your pedal. Yes, just send me a PM to purchase.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Is this for trucks without a booster altogether? or are the newer boosters that much better than the one on my 72?

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Captain,
Received the bracket in the mail today - beautiful piece of gear, thanks very much.

For everyone else's reference - I bought a 75 Impala Booster and a 67 C10 Drum/Drum master cylinder to use on this - all the parts fit together with no mods or hole drilling. Part arrived vacuum packed and is PC'ed beautifully. (I have not mounted it to the firewall yet - only speaking of the mc-to-booster-bracket so far, but I know it will fit the firewall also).

I'll post the install if I ever get off these #$%^&* cruthces... but here are the O'Reily's part numbers if you're interested (btw, same stuff/store as "Kragens"):

67 C10 Master Cyl ($18.99 + $10 core) Part # 10-1329 (Note: the part number on the website appears to be incorrect (13-1329) – when I called O’Reilly’s, they didn’t list this part number – they list the MC under 10-1329, and the receipt showed this as well – I think the website must be either a typo or an old part number. But what I bought looks exactly like what is in the link and its part # at O’Reilly’s is 10-1329)
75 Impala Booster ($104.99 + $10 core) Part # 54-81002

Thanks again Captain, appreciate the quick deliv and great craftsmanship.

Just so you know, the 13- part number is a new MC from Cardone. The 10- part number is a reman MC from Cardone. I don't believe O'Reilly sells the 13- new versions. I worked for Cardone for 20 years.
