sm465 PTO ?

I've kind of been looking for a PTO hydraulic pump for a while now. I finally found one off a sm465 (67 c30).

My question is, can I swap the PTO box from right PTO location to the left? It is currently on the passenger side. I need it to be on the drivers side because my truck is four wheel drive. Thanks for the help as usual!

Re: sm465 PTO ?

The SM 465 did not come on 67 models. It may be a SM 420. It seems to me they have the openings on opposite sides.

Re: sm465 PTO ?

Yeah I thought they used the 420 up until 68 or 9? Anyways this truck has a 465. I had the owner send a picture of the transmission to be sure. My real concern is whether or not the gears mesh up... The PTO bolt patterns are pretty universal I believe.

Re: sm465 PTO ?

Mine was on the drivers side. I believe it is reversable. Coarse that could depend on the pto. Mine was Warn

Re: sm465 PTO ?

If you change from right to left you may have to take the PTO guts out and flip them around. Most PTOs have a different "arrangement" from right to left. In other words the shaft would pointy toward the front of the trucking you didn't change the arrangement.
