Harmonic Balancer
The rubber in my balancer is looking pretty bad and I am going to replace it. I was looking at balancer and I am seeing some that have the key way slot at 10 degrees. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=SUM-161350
I was looking at mine and it looks like its right at 0-2 degrees. Which one should I get or does it matter? Thanks

Re: Harmonic Balancer
depending on the timing cover you have, you need the right balancer. Your mark is in line with the keyway on the crank, get the same one as that unless you change timing covers

Re: Harmonic Balancer
Lets say I go with the one at summit. Which timing tab would I need to get?

Re: Harmonic Balancer
Since you have everthing accessable, double check TDC #1. Then you know everthing is dead-nuts on when you get it back together. Those timing tabs aren't always right on.

Re: Harmonic Balancer
Get a "piston stop" i think they're called. You screw it into the #1 spark plug hole and then carefully by hand turn the engine until #1 piston just hits the stop.Make a mark. Then turn the engine back the other way until #1 piston just hits the stop.Make another mark. The point exactly in between these two marks is true TDC.
