The only "word" is when Josh can get all the bugs worked out, unfortunately. Right now search wants to crash the board if used when more than a few people are browsing the board.

Not having the search function is a little fustrating. I'm a newbie here, and I've got tons of questions that would be easily answered thru a search. I'm an expert at searching thru auto related forums

Hmmm... I wonder if attachments are still stored in the database here. If so then this is a big load on the server.

Some other vbulletin forums I'm on have either done away with allowing members to upload pics (members have to host their own pics), or have moved the uploaded pics from the database and into a regular folder outside the database (some php mods are required).

We got rid of the on site picture hosting for a bit, there were more ppl bent out of shape about that then there are ppl complaining on the search being disabled.

Yeah, that's understandable. I gave up on on free pic/website hosting and pony'ed up the $$ to host my own vw bus hobby site.

It is a kick ass forum tho' even w/o the search function
