Under hood wiring questions

I have a '72 long bed and I am replacing the engine. The wiring under the hood needs some love. Is there a harness that goes from the firewall and changes voltage regulator to internal alternator, and to HEI? I am not planning on replacing anything on the inside of the cab (yet).

Re: Under hood wiring questions

Depends on how bad your harness is. But if you check FAQ section 1 wire Alt & HEI install will guide you what to change. If you decide to have a custom wire harness that route check with GMC Pauls a vendor he has the harnesses made for how you want em.

Re: Under hood wiring questions

I would really like a whole diagram for under the hood. I found one on the site but it was black and white and kind of unclear

Don't forget to change out your resistor wire if you change over to HEI, or you won't get full 12 volts to the distributor
