SWB Fleetside???

I am looking at a SWB truck with no bed. How much should I budget for a complete bed (assembled, tailgate, painted, etc.) as well as rear sport bumper and brackets?

Re: SWB Fleetside???

Repop parts with a wood bed will run about $3500.00 complete without paint. Steel bed?

Re: SWB Fleetside???

I think going rate for an okay shaped bed is 400-800 bucks for one that will need some body work and rust repair.. 1500-2000 grand for one that is really nice.. these are from what I have found.. I have a SWB truck and i have no bed right now but am planning on buying when I get to that part of the project.

Re: SWB Fleetside???

I price all the sheetmetal and a wood floor with hidden fasteners, and stainless bolt kits, and it was only going to run around $2500. I priced these items with Mar-K, but they no longer carry the bedsides. When comparing the wood floors and mounting strips I would say the steel floor would run around the same price. For you, I would factor in shipping and all to be roughly $3000.

As far as an original bed, I think bguild summed it up quite nicely. I just scored a bed, and think I made out like a bandit!

For comparison, here's a bed I scored from a fellow board member.

Re: SWB Fleetside???

Hey I bought this reprop bed...including all parts necessary to assembly (ie bolts, tailgate hardware, etc) for $2600.....The guy that did the body work said it went together very well, which surprised the heck out of me...I think the paint, assembly etc was another $2k...say $4500.....

Re: SWB Fleetside???

If I had to guess the bed parts were probably Goodmark or another repop vendor. Pretty much there's only about 2 or 3 manufacturers that are making repop sheet metal.

gcburdic... thanks for the compliment. I hope it will eventually turn out as nice as yours did. Your bed is sweet, mine is still a little sour at the moment.

revn67....This is a crazy story, but I got it through a friend's friend in the business out of Hickory, NC....Also, the $2600 included my friend going to hickory (an hour or so away), picking it up and bringing it to the body shop that was doing the body/ paint....unfortunately, I got it sight unseen (my resto project is being done about hour from where I live in the back of my brother landscaping shop), but obviously trusted my friend AND the seller said he guaranteed it would go together well OR he would replace the bed or refund my money....it was really a win-win situation for me!!!

va_tlc....YES!...it was a brand new one piece floor as well...and again, I got it sight unseen...so unfortunately not sure who/ where the floor came from...

I tell you what...I'll contact my friend and see if he'll give me the info of the guy he got it from.......I'll call and ask where all the stuff came from and let y'all know....how's that???

And thanks for the compliments as well....72BlkButy...so what/ when you getting that bed on something??

Well.... I hope to pick up the bed this Friday, and then it's going to be torn apart and then sent to my body shop so it can be blasted and primed so I can store it until I'm ready to use it. Do you know if your bed was sand or media blasted? I think I got a pretty good price, but I think I can get it a little lower since I know the blaster at the body shop. I'm totally siked that I was able to find a decent original SWB, and I have lolife99 to thank for that.

The best advice I can give you is to watch the parts board closely. Recently there was a SWB w/ GMC tailgate that went for under $500, that's a steal!!! Here's the link to this bed.

Since my bed was reprop....I don't think my bed was blasted at all....maybe just roughed it up with some sandpaper primed and painted.....You probably know this anyway, but for your bed I think media blast may be better to keep the metal from warping....post some pics if you can so we can see what shape it REALLY is in....cause God forbid we know blasting shows the whole truth!!!

PS...DANTIP...sorry we are stealing your thread!!!
