Scored some parts cheap!! now help me paint please

So I saw an ad on craigslist a few weeks back for a guy parting a 91 suburband cheap so I call and he let me take all this stuff for $200 !!!!! Now I have to decide If I am going to keep the two tone or if I am going to stick with all one color (the color of my '01)

I pulled the entire front clip including grill, headlight buckets, wiring harness etc.. two pw/pl front doors w/no rust, gauges, dash bezel, bench seat, tow hooks, bumper, visors. I am gonna try and get it all swapped over this coming weekend

So what do you guys think? should I keep the two tone white and the newer blue or all blue?

Re: Scored some parts cheap!! now help me paint please

You gonna do the 89-91 full front clip conversion??? cool! I can't believe what you paid for all of that stuff. Man, I paid $250 just for the core support, grille, lights, etc. I think your seller was just parting out his neighbor's truck while he was out of town for that deals. Congrats!

The two tone, especially like how it's painted is just classic looking. I would wholeheartedly vote 2-tone, no questions. Not to mention the way the upper and lower trim set it off.

What are you doing with that rear bench? Might be a tough fit in your standard cab.

I vote two tone also. Honestly, either way would look good, though.

Redz, that is a front bench. It just doesn't flip forward, though.

I agree with the two tone. That reminds me of when I had my 83 Monte Carlo. I bought a doghouse, decklid, complete doors, and hood for $250. I used what I needed (hood and fender) and sold the rest and made some money. You gotta love good deals!

I'm thinking for colors. The blue that is on my '01 and pearl white (cadillac color) like what was on my '70. Maybe a silver pinstripe to separate the top colors and the regular chrome molding to separate the bottom?

Thats a tough call man. Are you doing away with the trim? If so then I would consider white on bottom and blue (maybe lighter than the '01) on top with a silver stripe at the body line...a little lower than in that pic.

Good score on the clip...wish i was closer to buy your old stuff!

Not what I thought. I thought you were swapping the old clip out for the newer sheetmetal. I know someone who could use the old front clip

Whatever color you paint it,should be with the original round headlights!
My vote is to leave it with the original clip.

If it means anything,I used to not be a fan of the round headlights myself. Then I bought one with plans of changing it "down the road" but it grew on me and now I like it. Plus in my area there's not to many round lights but the newer ones are way more common. I like to stand out!!

I vote 2-tone... white and with the original blue. The silver w/blue came out years later... it doesn't "fit" your era of truck with all the chrome (IMO). Keep the CLASSIC look... .

The original two-tone is cool if you were leaving the front clip. If you are dead set on changing to the late model clip then that combination won't look right. You will need to consider doing the later style two-tone.

I know you don't want to hear this but I would leave the current clip on it, and sell the Burb clip.

Ya, I gotta agree. It's just my opinion but what makes the truck look so "classic" is the trim, color combination. It'll look good either way, just depends on what look you are going for. I get alot of compliments on this truck I had repainted to original. Not that it's all that nice, just the original look with some minor modifications. JMO.

I am not a huge fan of the burb front either, but I like it way more than the round headlights/fenders. I guess I need to get some better pictures of the '80 and get someone to photoshop some colors.
