so is this an "Expensive" sound?
it does sound like a loose valve but I am sure they are all tight and adjusted right. I checked some of them. the motor does have a miss in it. I just did the plugs, gaped them at 45*, I "think" the wires are OK. I did notice before that when it would click, it would miss then when it stopped it was OK. it sounds like its coming from up-top. also, what is that thing that is attached to the passenger side manifold? there is a rod that disappears in the back of the motor. could that be causing the clicking? the rod behind the *canister* is loose.

Re: so is this an "Expensive" sound?
oh, I meant to re-phrase the last question. I know the rod that is connected to the "canister" is not making the noise. what I am wondering is what it was connected to, could be?

sounds like the rockers need adjusted,The little vac canister is for a vacuum operated heat riser the rod should be connected to a valve in the exhaust between the manifold and exhaust pipe

to adjust them I can just start it up and loosen one till it starts clacking then tighten till its not then give it a 1/4 turn right?

And you may have a bad lifter for it to just start doing that. Did you change oil here in the past week or two?
