Is anyone else angry about the high gas prices today? I live where there are only 6,000 people in the county in the mountains of N.C. and it is 1.95 a gallon. this is rediculis i have to drive 35 miles to work to tn because theres no jobs here. It really hurts the pocket to fill up a 80 surb.with a 40 gal. tank.

i feel your pain base grade gas typically goes for 2.05 around here...and what really angers me....DIESEL is around 2.20!!!!

Yeah, it sucks. The only way to make it really go down would be to boycott it or at least use less. Too bad we are all too addicted to the stuff to do that. It is a sellers market

Lucas is spot-on! FWIW, our local cheapie is $2.219, and our 76 station is 2.429 - for 87 octane!

Suddenly, predictions of near $3 by summer seem plausible....

for some reason my truck doesnt like regular. the only thing it will hold an idle to in the morning when she is cold is chevron super. i filled up today at 2.35 a gallon. i drive anywhere from 8 miles to 52 miles a day for work. at 10 miles to the gallon it adds up to about 300 buck a month for gas. about time to buy a honda

Wow, where on earth did you find such cheap gas! It is around $2.25 a gallon here in Phoenix, and climbing steadily.

It is even hitting us hard up here north of the border, it is .859 a litre today and is climbing higher in Toronto.

$.859 cents a litre is equal to $3.25 a US gallon. For those that want to feel our pain. I'm just about to start to strip the powertrain from my 72 next week. I need to be able to pull a 6000 .lb trailer so I'm putting in a 421 stroker small block, 700R4 and 3:73 gears. Looks like I won't be using it as a daily summer driver too much.

If the $3.25/gallon is in Canadian currency, that makes it $2.35 US gallon/US dollar up north of the border. Not too much higher than here in the States.

I'm hoping it goes down and this is just a price spike, but who knows. We are all tricked into thinking $1.50/gallon is dead cheap for gas now because we have been paying these high prices for so long now.

If this isn't just a price spike and the prices keep rising at this rate, there would be a serious change in this country. Public transportation would start to look much better to most people. Since everything is shipped by truck in this country, count on prices of all goods going up. Our beloved trucks would start to be parked (mine already is, partly due to gas prices).

I'm hoping i can pick up a compact car in the next month or so...i'm guessing the demand and price on them will go up if gas stays this high.

In Eugene, Oregon it's rangeing from $2.09 to $2.35 for regular. What's crazy is the cheap stuff runs better than the expensive. Yeah, my truck is parked for now as well.

call me crazy ... but if im gonna pay 1.98 for 87 octance at Arco(junk gas if you ask me) /..... i would rather pay a few more cents for good gas at 76 or chevron ...

people talk about boycotting gas ... i dont think it will ever be done.... We as a country are extremely dependent on the infamous go-go juice ... In a way it drive are ecomony (no pun intended)

anyone agree ???

Just demonstrates how dumb our govenment is. Our cost of living indicators will go up as the price of fuel inflates the price of all goods transported via trucks which is almost everything. Instead of telling the Saudi's to quit the BS and produce at normal levels, we are focusing on a bunch of naked prisoners. Shoot the guards that did that and the commanders who allowed it to happen and tell Iraq that if they don't resume production to normal levels, we will remove our military machine from Iraq, and let Sadam loose in their country~~~.
Can anyone varify if the oil we pump down the Alaska pipeline actually goes to US or is shipped via tanker to Japan as it brings higher prices there??????

I agree with Huck. They should be more concerned with things that effect the general public, such as oil production. Sure those prisoners being treated the way they were is a travesty, but to be honest, in my world, things like gas prices are more important. As Huck indicated, the government should concentrate on things that directly effect the public. But then on the other hand, the way the U.S. is view by the rest of the world does effect the general public. Also, I suppose the rest of the world should realize this was only one place, and only a few Americans that did this. It isn't the way we are.

I'll get off my soap box now.

ok i might come off as the dumb girl here, but dont we have a gajillion barrels of gas that we could produce out of Alaska which could be pumped through the pipeline that we paid another gajillion for?why should we rely on countries that we are at war with to produce our gas, when we could be doing it here in the first place?

Environmental wackos wont let us drill for our own oil that we could use, and theres plenty of it to. I think this proves that Bush didnt go to Iraq for oil, otherwise we'd have a lot more oil than we do, and Iraq is producing oil, almost as much as before the war started. Too bad he didnt go there for oil so we would have plenty to keep prices down. I thin Russia and Venezuale have a lot of oil to and they arent part of OPEC, maybe they won't sell to the US though. Whats China have to do with OPEC and high prices? I didnt hear anything about that yet. I already bought an old Datsun for a daily driver and use the truck for hauling crap and for fun. My 83 El Camino with all its mods will be parked excpet for weekends, thats if I ever get it done, lol.
Gas prices in Alabama and in Iowa are around $1.68 to $1.73 for the cheap stuff and $1.93 for the expensive stuff.

here in the memphis area its 1.90 and in some places 1.70. I'm like you guys if i can't get more than 13 miles to the gal, i'm thinking of a honda. Who can afford it? maybe we should call our reps and get the min wage raised! Can i hear an amen?

Gas might be expensive but getting in a small car and having a accident is even more expensive. I wouldn't be here today if I was in a small car when some yeawho ran a stop sign at 40 and broadsided me. I also believe that if you do some of the math before you go buy another car you're saving a little money not alot. Safety to me is worth alot. Alot of things out there are all cheaper than doctor bills. Oh yea, ever price the parts of smaller/cheaper cars? Should have done what Jay Lenno said " buy gas as a investment while it's still $1.30 gallon, sell it when the price goes up"

As far as Alaska goes, from what i understand there is only enough oil in the Aritic wildlife refuge to feed the US for two years. Of course we would have no imports, but we would suck it dry in a hurry.

hes a grim statistic that i heard. do you know how high gas prices would need to get for people to start thinking about selling thier beloved SUV's? try more than double what it is right now....$4.00 a gallon for the soccer moms to get rid of thier suburbans and excursions... biodiesel is looking better and better
