Show me your rear bumper
I am looking for bumper ideas that are different then what is on the truck now it was used for camping and towing back in the day but will live an extremely sheltered and pampered life once it gets here. My father in law sent some more pics of it though and I can say the bumper will have to go. Not opposed to a roll pan just the bolt on ease of a bumper will be alot faster fix. So if you wouldn't mind show me what you got custom or not.
Here's what I will be dealing with.

Re: Show me your rear bumper
All that bumper needs is a vice bolted to it!

Re: Show me your rear bumper
Doesn't really go with the direction I would like to go not getting rid of it I am keeping all OG parts so it can be returned to OG condition. I don't want to hack anything up just want a cleaner look and a vice and a pipe cutter would be a nice addition lol.

Re: Show me your rear bumper
Here is a 66 stock chrome bumper.
I am going to have mine re-chromed. Apparently the repro bumpers are not as stout. Notice that one lawyer is peeling but still no rust. I first thought it was stainless Steel but have been assured that the originals were steel. |

Re: Show me your rear bumper
Did the stock chrome bumper have those plates that went between the bumper brackes and the bed like in the second photo of Ralf's. I can't find info on that and though it might be a P.O. add on. Though it's painted and wethered like the rest of the truck. It sure makes the bumper look cleaner.

Re: Show me your rear bumper
I always wanted to trim a front bumper and fit it on the rear and see how that would look, I think other then the plate/ hitch area its pretty close to the same....
Am I wrong?....I know the mounting is differant.

Re: Show me your rear bumper
I changed my original 65 chrome to a 67-72. With the tag being under instead of over it gives the illusion of being lower,To me it looks way better.
Pic 3 was after redoing the under bumper exhaust

Re: Show me your rear bumper
hey Red, I like the look. What did you have to do as far as brackets are concerned to make it work?

Re: Show me your rear bumper
You would need to get the bracket set for the 72 as well. They bolt right on.
Thanks,

Re: Show me your rear bumper
Am I the only guy that wants a vise on his bumper? Those diamond plate steel wraparounds cry out for a vise!
