Console Mock-Up
Here is a pic of what i think i am going to do with the console. I think i am going to cover it in red or black vinyl and maybe do a little design with some foam.(Flames?)

if youi built it right you could probably squeeze a sub inside. be a good use for all that airspace inside too. hard to steal if you don't know it's there!

COOL!
CHEVYKID1969
HEY I MADE A CONSOLE LIKE THAT IN MY OLD 72 AND IT WORKED OUT GOOD. I ALSO HAD THE SHIFTER ON THE FLOOR... THE HOLE IN THE TOP OF THE CONSOLE ENDS UP TO BE A PRETTY GOOD SIZE THOUGHT FOR THE MOVEMENT BACK AND FORTH. I EVEN CUT A RECTANGULAR HOLE IN-BETWEEN THE SEATS AND PUT ANOTHER LEVEL TO MAKE AN ARMREST FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AND A LID FLIPPED UP FOR STORAGE. I WISH I HAD SOME PICTURES TO SHOW YOU. IT WAS COOL! |

I would mount the sub on the rear facing the Bed. That would allow it to use all of that air space as well as look pretty cool. you could also mount the amp somewhere inside as well. Maybe just use a board to seal off the sub from the rest of the enclosure.
Maybe like this: |

Personally I would go with something like this. This is a quick sketch I did on MS Paint so it isn't the greatest but you get the idea. Cover it in vinyl and maybe cover around the shifter area in plexi glass that has been tinted and install some lights under there for a cool night effect??

I'd definitely add a couple of cup holders and some storage space. Especially with a console that size. Plenty of room.

Very cool looking consoles. I'm gonna hafta borrow some ideas to put into my work in progress.
Somebody said coolers and subs. Next to cupholders, that was my first priority. This is still gettin' covered, but that flame idea will have to show up on mine, somewhere. Had to take a chunk out of the front 'cause I kept banging my shifter hand on it. Next up is the seat back, fold down thing that has the cup holders on the back side. And, yes, this fits so tight it really doesn't really need any fasteners, but I plan to add a few sheet metal screws at the bottom, for that occasional panic stop....

Very good ideas and designs guys. I'm also thinking of undergoing a nice console project. I'm thinking gauge posd for air ride, and buit in TV for rear seats, and ducted heat to the rear.
