Re: 4L60E or Turbo400

What are you going to use it for. Just a driver an overdrive would be ideal, towing/ the 400 is stronger

Re: 4L60E or Turbo400

Someone correct me if I am wrong here... (I know this is broad generalization)

The 4L60E is the evolution of the 700R4 into the computer age. The TH400 evolved into the 4L80E with the addition of overdrive and electronics.

Hence, if you need a computer controlled transmission for your engine, you know which way to go. I understand that the TH400 and 4L80E are much more stout, so that is the way I would go. With the electronic variants you could get the Compushift controller to make it into shifting nirvana...

Re: 4L60E or Turbo400

I'd go with the 4L60E no doubt. I know a lot of guys with 600+HP engines with 4L60E that run the crap out of them at the track with no problems. With a good performance build the 4L60E can take a lot of abuse.

If it's a daily driver, definitely go with the overdrive. Are you carbing the LT-1, or keeping the electronics? If the latter, the computer will be a lot happier with a matching trans bolted to the engine, and you'll save yourself some gas with the overdrive. If you go big enough, it might be a good idea to try to find the 4L80E instead.
