Bought this truck today and I think it qualifies as a sleeper... Rebuilt motor
& carb, new brake shoes and cylinders, new shocks, new battery, radiator boiled & tested & fuel tank professionally cleaned inside & coated. It also has 8" ralleys and new BF Goodrich tires. Everything works except the fuel gauge and the PO said that was because there was no float attached to the arm. He put it back together that way because he couldn't find one. The owner had it on craigslist and board member JDL PM'd me to let me know about it. It was only 17 miles from me. When he first listed it he was asking $2495. Just before I left for Texas he was down to $2195 and when I came back from Texas a week later it was listed for $1995. I finally went and looked at it and ended up buying it for $1500. It needs rockers, cab corners and has some rust in the cowl area. I may just end up swapping the cab out. The bedsides and tailgate are pretty nice but the bed floor has some rust holes.

Right now I'm just going to drive it. It runs pretty strong...

Oh yeah, the windshield is cracked and the 396 was replaced with a built 454....

mint find! i love that truck! and origional big block truck! even tho the 396 was replaced with a 454...i like 454's better anyway :P

I was expecting to see a 350 or something til I saw the option sticker and my finger couldn't find the engine picture fast enough!! Nice find!

Dude. it's got a RAT MOTOR!!!!!!! I would drive the hell out of it! It qualifies for what my friend and I call PRO BARN! Do not do anything to the body. Make it SAFE to drive and get it to run the way you like. THEN DRIVE IT!!!

EXACTLY!!!

I have always liked the 69 only maroon paint. My old GMC was originally this color, fir sh!ts and grins, I waxed part of the tranny hump when I had the carpet out.... to sww what it looked like dolled up, and it is an amazing shade of paint IMO.

Nice find.... Wish the one I looked at yesterday was close to that one.

It was a 67 Chevy wrecker with all the trimmings: Boom, built in air compressor (inside the engine) factory a/c (under dash), 3/4 ton dually. But the cab was swiss cheese with lots of rust in roof area.

I like the barn you have in the background. Not a tree in site but nice rolling country side. Is that your homestead?

I grew up in the country around Corpus Christi. No trees and so flat you could see a car coming for miles.

VERY COOL! If you get a chance, would you snap a pic of the front of that engine (brackets and such) and possibly a pic or two of the motor mounts and their postion on the frame. It looks like it fits in there quite nicely (and I'm a few months from slipping one in myself!) Thanks!
