Congratulations, that's a nice looking truck. How are you planning on restoring it, original, mostly original or modified? Looking forward to seeing more pictures.

Great looking truck! This is a great place for advice and helpful information as you will likely find a solution for every problem you may run into. You have a fun project ahead of you!
My 70 C20 started out looking very similar to yours, although in addition to the green body and white cab, it was white below the lower trim. I think yours is in better shape than mine was when I started my frame off build. |

Re: 1970 chevy c20 project
I'm a big C20 fan. Get it running good and enjoy it, it's a cool truck. Collect parts you will need, and when the time comes go for the full restoration. I have seen too many guys tear into a project only to lose interest (and a lot of money) due to having a project sit around for years and there was no budget planned in advance. So make a plan, make a budget, but enjoy it in the meantime. It's a great truck as is. I'd lose the mirrors, get new front bumper, and drive the wheels of it. Nice score!

Re: 1970 chevy c20 project
Gotta love those C-20s ! Your truck looks way better than mine just as it is. Nice touch with the custom mounted spot mirror, although the way it's affixed to the main mirror has a somewhat awkward look to it. (to me anyway) Work on getting that engine running...it'll give your ambition a boost to start tackling other stuff here and there.
Oh, and k2rm,that is one nice C-20 you have.To think that you started with so much less and end up with a finished ride that nice is an inspiration to all of us. Good job !

Re: 1970 chevy c20 project
Here's my 69 C20. I installed an 8-lug front disc brake conversion kit. I wanted to keep the 8-lug set up and I'm glad I did. K2RM did the same I believe. I recall chatting about it in the past. Keep it all 8-lug!

Re: 1970 chevy c20 project
Thanks for the compliments guys. I agree with derotoreut, leave it 8 lug. The front disk conversion is great and adding a front sway bar is probably the best mod for buck upgrade you can do.
Derotoreut, I love the stance of your truck. How's the ride with the HD springs in the front? |

Re: 1970 chevy c20 project
Not to hijack the thread, but K2RM I run HD springs in my truck (new ones in fact), with 8-bolts, big balloon tires, and leafs in the back. Pretty much the same stance as derotoreut. It rides like, well, a truck.
I know a lot of you guys in 1/2 ton coil land like a truck that rides like a Caddy. Let me just say I'm glad I got new seat foams last year. No more seat frame imprints in my butt. |

Re: 1970 chevy c20 project
Very nice. Here's what I'd do, assuming it runs and stops
Wash it and buff it with Maguires Cleaner Wax Take off the mirrors, and get some stock ones Replace wiper blades with factory ones Replace front bumper with same type Find missing lower moulding piece Repaint steelies Install Chevy hubcaps. 73+ are easier to find until you can get some nice period correct ones Repaint the black areas on your grille, and paint the inner grille squares metallic gray Buy black vinyl chevrolet letters for grille from Brothers That'll keep you busy and get you started Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1970 chevy c20 project
I've been working on my 70 C20 for almost a year now. It's come a long way mechanically and has been a lot of fun. I just put a b&m mega truck shifter in today. Love it. Have fun with yours and keep us up dated.
