Reverse Smoothie
Maybe a dumb question but, what the heck is a reverse smoothie? Does anyone have a pic of a regular and a reverse for comparison?

Re: Reverse Smoothie
no such thing as a reverse smoothie...
There either reverse OR smoothies a reverse is a moon smoothie or rim turn backwards to give it a deeper look.

Re: Reverse Smoothie
I think the reverse refers the the outer rim being turned around. If you'll notice in the link (bottom right) the reverse rims are flatter deeper into the wheel where as standard bevel into center earlier. The reverse wheels will have less backspacing though.

Re: Reverse Smoothie
A smoothie is an aftermarket wheel which has no hubcap retaining bumps or clips showing when the hubcap is in place (like a rally wheel), and was originally designed to wear a compatible somewhat flat baby moon style hubcap. They also normally have a universal dual bolt pattern wheel center for both 4.5 and 4.75 bolt circles. A reversed smoothie simply has the center mounted further back in the rim providing a deeper appearance.
True reversed rims used a factory wheel center with either hub cap clips or hub cap bumps, which was cut free from the rim and turned around and welded in backwards (in a “reversed” position). When finished the hub cap retainers (clips or bumps) remain. Here’s a link explaining the process and visual benefits, starting at post #9. The link to RallyAmerica shows what a real reversed rim looks like. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...highlight=rims

Re: Reverse Smoothie
Some people, like myself, refer to deep dish wheels as 'reversed'. Growing up with the 'lowrider' industry, if you had 'reversed' spoke wheels, then they were deep-dish.
Whereas if you were rolling on 'standards' the spokes were close to the outer edge, and therefore, made you NOT as cool....

Re: Reverse Smoothie
Thanks for the lesson guys! I guess deep dish would be the term I am most familiar with. That's what I am after is a deep lip so I guess a set of revers wheels it will be.
